My 08 Nytro never starts right away when it hasnt been run in a while ( cold ). Turn the key, hear the fuel pump start and stop, turn the key to start, hear the click but no turn over. If I run thru this procedure 5-10 times it finally cranks over and starts. After its been running, the problem goes away, starts right up every time. Any ideas?

Starter relay is my bet, green little relay by battery , get the 2011 one its updated and sealed better apparently.

i had the exact problem, try connect a wrench to the solenoid if it cranks as soon as they connect there's your problem change it and you'll be good as new again, they cost only about $30 i think, :4STroke:

I had the same problem when I got mine out of storage. The contacts inside the relay are corroded and not making a good connection I removed the relay and connected the two small control wires to a 12 volt battery and energized the relay several time. The cycling of the contacts must have removed some of the corrosion on them because now it's working fine. I now carry a jumper wire in my tool kit in case it quits again and I've also covered the relay with a rubber boot to keep it dry.

Diletric grease all of the wires:) good sh*t on my nytro, no more eletric problems :-o

He hears the starter relay click which means it is energized. The contact in the relay is closing that is way you hear it click but it doesn't make a good electrical contact. These relays are sealed and are designed to supposedly withstand the elements but obviously they can't. Unless you brake the relay open there is no way to clean the contacts. The relay needs to be relocated to a dryer spot or covered so it stays dry. The connector on top of the relay energizes the relay during cranking and also supplies power to the fuel injection system through the 10 amp fuse. This connector and the connector on the key switch have been problematic and should be checked for corrosion every season. Using a corrosion preventive compound like Truck Lite, NYK-77 may save you some aggravation later.
