Will about 33miles into my ride my torsion spring bracket Bolt snap and let the spring unwind and bend leaving me up #*$&@ creek. So I tap into my MacGyver side using a shoestring and a zip tie. I rode the sled back to the truck 33miles. :sled1:

Haha nice! I had to do that on a sled trip couple years back. Used a nylon rope we luckily had. Gotta do what ya gotta do!

You might want to consider a new career as a jazz musician. Way to improvise!

I sure felt good about my fix.lol And now I bent the spring back to where it shouod be. :-o LaLaLa

I've had a rough season. A few weeks ago I rode 100 miles back to the truck with the center skid shock removed after a failure and today I drove my sled a mile in reverse to get back to a road after shearing off both upper and lower a-arms. Back to the garage for more repairs.

Old abandoned train rail. The sled ended up upside down where it's sitting and I landed beyond it. Luckily I wasn't hurt but I'm sure I'll feel it in the morning.

Grizz...Where was this/what trail system?

It happened near South Dayton, NY on trail C1A between rt 62 and Bentley Rd. I think it's part of the Snowbounders trail system out of Little Valley. They do have caution signs on each side but no indication of a rail crossing. The rails were completely covered with snow until I hit one. If you know anyone in that club it would be a good idea to have them put up a rail crossing sign and possible a stop sign. The rails are also way to high if not properly covered with snow for a sled crossing. I was lucky and the sled can be fixed.

I should be able to get it back together next week. I believe the subframe can be salvaged so I just need some a-arms and a tie rod. Until then I still have the old reliable Vector.

those are both some impressive trail fixes, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. a couple years ago one of my buddies rode his m8 9-10 miles in reverse because it jammed and wouldn't come out reverse. we stopped for lunch and mysteriously worked fine upon re-firing it, not so for for rider he was ruined and required a trip to the chiropractor.

grizz.....glad your ok

Grizz...wow, I ride that area sometimes myself...I will keep this in the back of my mind. I passed along the info (on Facebook) to the club so hopefully the club will do something about it. Sucks this happened to you. When you get her back together and are coming out to the Chautauqua trails anytime send me a PM.

Maybe mountaintech can get you those demo arms before anyone else and save ya buying stockers. Glad that you're ok Grizz.
