I find it most interesting at the amount of questions, answers, opinions and intimate knowledge for a completelly new and not totally designed product lineup. Its scarry to think what will happen this summer when we start taking delivery of our new toys. I'm looking forward to everyone sharing their thoughts and ideas and hope to learn a few good tips. But I can read the headlines now " Internet implodes, Yamaha forums to blame". So until then put away a few dollars for some accessories, fire up the Quads, hit the blacktop on two wheels, make ammends with the old ladies, and of course think snow.........................

What you say is true to some degree, however, the number of things the same between the 05RX1 and the 06RX1/"Apex" are greater than the number of things changed. Actually *FAR* greater.

And of the differences, if someone can design the changes, then someone else can understand them. This means that even without actually working on them in detail, logical comparisons and mechanical understanding allow us to know what effects the changes will have.

I'm prepared to flush my 300 dollar deposit if some of the things i did not like about the GT are not addressed and i have several friends who plan on putting their new yammis on the asphalt as soon as thier in . If the performance is way off I'm walking away. I figure a 300 dollar mistake is far easier to swallow that a 10k mistake.

Or just take delivery and sell it. Apparently there are a few still looking for a GT.

Not sure what you are expecting. From the 2 hours I had on the 06, I have no doubt that I will be happy as could be with mine :D

Stinky,

What changes are you looking for on the GT?

What pavement performance is acceptable to you?

BTW, I agree on the $300 vs $10,000 thought.

I had a high powered trail sled 205 hp ,ride all day on pump gas,8 mpg.
lots of light weight parts. Would run 103 to 106 in 500 ft with speed track.

she was a 2000, old technology but rode nice handled good and would crush 99 percent of the sleds you would come across on the trail.
Call it getting older but i was tired of cold nights in the garage fine tunning. It would have to performing at its best or i would not take it out. Lots of people would want to take a crack at beating it or should i say get embarassed buy it.

What i'm trying to say is i loved the killer power but was really sick of looking under the hood of that sled.
so i sold it. BUY FAR THE HARDEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN GO DOWN THE DRIVE WAY IN SOMEONE ELSES TRUCK.

Now i have a pretty good down payment on some new technology, but no sled. still have two big trips planned to NB. so i have to rent.

have to go to work will continue later.

Lazy Thank you! I agree with your 06RX-1/Apex statement. I think the Apex is all about rider position. Not "All New".
It's a Fuel Injected RX-1 with great ergonomics. ;)!

What i was trying to say in the above post was that i had gotten away from what i really enjoyed about snowmobiling.

I ended up renting a rev 500ss which has the old 600 motor in it. I was blown away at how nice this sled was. The performance of this thing was incredable put 1200 mile on it .The sled made the blown out trals as much fun as the fresh groomed. and 16mpg was nice.

the only thing lacking was at the motor. I loved everything about this sled but really missed the power of my 1100.
So i started thinking about a MACHZ but the reading about all the problems over on doo talk kept my money in pocket.

this is what got me thinking real hard about the yamaha's. I knew of a dealership sitting on 40 left over 04's. Then i saw the 06's and got sucked in.

but having never ridden a yamaha for any period of time i had to use this site as my only real reference. I desided after reading about them and the evolution from 03-06 that this is what i wanted. So i placed an order.

then i got to see them in person and what i saw in the brochure was not that nice in person. Just alot of cheap cosmetic stuff on the gt. For 10 grand and a limited production sled , i want billet alminum not chrome plastic crap.

this is what i know to date , the rx1 is not quick and its not all that fast, but i'm not sure if i really need to be quickest or fastest anymore. I know these sleds are heavy, but similar in weight to my last sled. I do not know how they handle or ride. I would hope similar to the rev i rode, but i'm starting to doubt it, a little to heavy. I'm just not sure about taking a 10k leap of faith. I need to know more and see some things first hand. So i'm on a holding pattern to see what shows up in sept.

Based on what i have seen to date. I would consider 10.5 at 117-118 to be good performance on asphalt. high 11's at 105-106 is not.

I have seen srx's run low 10's at 120+ with stock motors only clutch work.
I would like to think yamaha could make a sled for 2006 that handled and performed like the 2000-2001 srx's. then i would be happy.I guess we will have to wait and see.

If you don't think a RX-1 will run close to those numbers your wrong NOSPRO is running high 10's low 11's and he weighs 250 pounds. A light weigh rider will be in the mid 10's. Plus everyone forgets four stroke technology is new. People are still applying 2 stroke logic to their clutching setups.

If you want a 210 hp sled that runs on pump gas and will get 16 to 18 mpg then you need a APEX with a Holzman NOS system. NOSPRO ran a 60 HP shot of NOS on his 05 Rx-1 last year. He put 3000 mile son it and it ran and still runs flawlessly. You can't do that with a 2 stroke.

To each his own but as far as I'm concerned for what your getting in the GT for what i could have bought it for 9750.00 otd there is nothing on the market that com pairs. The technology Yamaha was brought to the table is unmatched. The competition is a damm joke technology wise compared to the APEX. Tell me what do get from Polaris on the Fusion and Skidoo on the MachZ for 10K. They are all plastic

If you are this unsure, I don't think I would buy this sled. Go and buy the new Mach Z. That motor on the new Z is good, they just had some bad configuration problems. They have a hole slew of changes coming for the rear skid. Doo will fix all of those calibration issues since, they don't have any real motor problems, like they did with the rest of there line. I just sold my REV 800 yesterday and I would buy the new Mach if it was a 4 stroke. I just don't want any more issues that come with two strokes. They are just too high of Maintenance. Doo's sleds/chassis are very good and they don't really have any problems, just the motors do.

I dont know what other guys are finding but I bought my RTX for within $200 of what I was quoted for a ski doo 600SDI, the 800 and mach werent even close. Anyone who actually paid even close to the MSRP on one of these got robbed. With that said if you REALLY like the REV and want the power of your past sled how about picking up a 1 yr old 500ss and stuffing a 809 mach z tripple in it, it'll be 175+hp and they make a sweet package.

It's sad to read this because Rotax use to be the most durable performance 2-stroke going :?

What happened :o|
