Dont take this the wrong way............

It's sad to read this because Rotax use to be the most durable performance 2-stroke going

What happened

The EPA happened. they have to run these sleds on the ragged edge to meet emission standards. There is no other reasonable explanation for it

I don't agree with that. What does the EPA have to do with ring and crank bearing issues. I think they simply got greedy and tried to cut corners. Take my 809 triple, the end crank bearing wasn't drilled for oil but was packed in grease. Apparently it's cheaper to do that then to pay a machinest for the added labor for drilling :o|

I'm wondering with smooth black ice and a camo speed track if a gt would hit 120 or better. I just might have to buy one and try it.

On a smooth ice covered road I hit 137 mph on my RX-1. Bluebyyou2000 hit the same on the same road that day.

that's about 118 mph.

Colby up in Alaska who runs the Alcan 200 hit 126 mph with a speed track on glare ice during his testing a while back on his RX-1

Testing , Testing, Testing is the issue. At one time, their motors were great, but their chassis were not to be desired, then they end up creating an awesome chassis, but there motors are now junk. Can't win.....

I dont know what other guys are finding but I bought my RTX for within $200 of what I was quoted for a ski doo 600SDI, the 800 and mach werent even close. Anyone who actually paid even close to the MSRP on one of these got robbed. With that said if you REALLY like the REV and want the power of your past sled how about picking up a 1 yr old 500ss and stuffing a 809 mach z tripple in it, it'll be 175+hp and they make a sweet package.
Then I guess I got robbed because in Canada, most dealers were only allowed two GT's and I paid 14,000 for the GT and the MSRP is 14,900.00 That was the cheapest I could find. For some stupid reason, these Manufactures like to give it to us Canadians, because they do not change the price for the corrected exchange rate. It's complete bullshit..... :ORC

Hey stinkfinger, where do you live in Maine,go to woody's yamaha shop in topsom and talk to him,i wittnessed one of his customers last fall in Epping at New England Dragways run a stock 05 rx1 with stock RA skid and of course a asphalt track, but it was a standard 15 wide track run back to back 116-118 mph 10.4-10.7runs i was to say the least impressed, this was a standard rx1 not all lightened up like woodys turbo,i think the guy who ownes it is Dan,and now he has it turboed but not when he ran those times and speeds. I was there with Dave Abbott from Abbotts Power sports in Waterboro Maine,he was running his 1500cc mod psi and keith woods was running his mod rx1 turbo, now i bought the 05 confusion from dave,i strayed from yammi for one year and all i had was problems and i had ran poos for many many years, but i had the 03 rx1 all stock except for my cat rear skid and i ran gps 117 best on our lake snow to ice to snow, but at least it was consitant, cant say that about the ill handling.foul smelling, gas guzzling, washing machine vibrating pig of a polaris i had lol, maybe you can see a trend here,i hope so,now i rode the apex and the attak, the apex two different places and times, and all i can say is they are not slow, very quick if you thought that 500ss was quick wait till you hop onto the apex wow,is what you will say,now top speed i am not sure about, yet but i will next winter, and i am confident it will run near or break 120 radared on perfect conditions, with stock track... ;)!

mnmsnowbeast, God I hope you are right, because I'm coming from an 800 REV and it was not slow to say the least, so I'm hoping it accelerates at least the same as that did.

Hi all!

I'm sad to say but I am also willing to throw away my $300 but not for any of the issues stated in this thread. I just want Yami to own up to all of the suspension issues and FIX them.

I must admit that the chances are slim of me throwing away the $300 but I will be keeping a very close eye on the posts here at TY!

Stinkfinger, you have to make a tough choice. I was not going to order an Apex even though everyone said they were awesome. I rode one, and it was. Had I not tried the sled out, I would have not ordered one. Hopefully you can try some sleds next season.

I had never thought I would get an o6 right after getting an 05. But I rode it and it hit everyone of my hot buttons. That is why Yamaha let so many ride them this year. One ride and you are hooked.

And Mighty, I think many of the 2 stroke failures ARE because they have been gearing up for the emission standards. Leaner and less oil mix is what it takes to meet those standards and the motors cant handle it.

To some extent I agree, but in 97 they weren't gearing up yet when two of my buddies lost cranks in their 700 triple Doo's. In both cases it was due to poor lubrication, there were no oil passage holes in one end of the crank on both sleds. Dealer claimed it was a mistake at the factory.

Hi rotax if it is half the sled my 03 was,it wont dissapoint,my buddy who had the 04 800ho rev and i were just talking at work, about our two sleds when we used to race/trail ride any way we ride very, very hard in the trails and any place for that matter, and the only place his rev would beat me was midrange, but dont forget he is 150 and i am 240+ so the edge goes to him every time, and it will next year even though i got the attak, and him the apex GT,he was completely blown away by the apex ER and we both compared it to his rev, ride, handling, and power, trail power!!!! And i dont think there is any reason to believe they wont have any top end,i am sure they will be better than what they replace...

I know the APEX'S will be good out of the hole, but I am more worried from about a 40mph roll on until top end where I'm not sure about the power or how it will perform. If it performs/pulls midrange and on top like my REV then I will be extremely happy. The 4 strokes out of the hole have great low end torque, they just need to get hooked up. The ripsaw will help alot in that category.
