I think you hit the nail on the head with this statement...good call.

If the outer wheels "scrub" its less of an issue without studs there,while the inner "scrubs" across the stud heads and tears them up...

time will tell.

I just put the marginal snow wheel kit on this weekend. Well to make it fit well on the mono I had to machine off 5mm from the aluminum bushing. The added thinkness of the fish plateing on the rails offset the wheels onto track lugs. I then needed a longer mounting bolt. Anyway I rode it 360 miles on Friday, it saved my hyfax but wrecked the set of wheels. Low snow conditions and high speeds just proved too much for the rubber compound. I bought a set of kimpex wheels at the local dealer and tried them the rest of the weekend. We will see how they hold up.
