what rides better the sc111 or the bender mono.i have on 04 rx1 and thinking of doing the same .could you send me some pictures and info .thanks.

I have been doing a lot of research on this and can probaly summarize. I think there are 4 good options for trail riding:
Edge, SCIII, 2001+ Cat, and Mono
For reference the stock Pro-Action weighs 73lbs
The edge is probably one of the softest ones especially with the Fox PPS shock, it has a lot of adjustment and the shock can be tailored to take jumps and moguls (that is how I'm setting it up). This skid weighs 68 lbs fully dressed ready to drop in. Parts are cheap, and help is easy to find on other forums. A good price is under $400
SCIII- I don't have much info on it other then I rode a friends 800 Legend and wow that thing is a cadiallac! Don't have weight I would assume very close to the edge. A good price is under $500
Cat skid 2001+ - This is a great skid as well, lots of adjustment and probably one you cna drop in without any rebuilds or anything. Didn't research a weight or adjustability because I got a great deal on a Edge. Other people that have this skid can probably chime in. I never saw one for under $500 but that doesn't mean much.
Mono- is the LIGHTEST of all (56lbs stock, 50lbs with CB perf parts). Ride is soft and upgrades will probably be needed to get it set right. There were some hyfax issues early on but they have them worked out in 06+. This is the most expensive skid, expect a great deal to be $600 and most going for $900-1200.
The last skid NOT really for a trail rider is the Polaris ProX- This skid is for the ditch bangers, its about the same weight of the edge but built a little tougher. The walker evans shocks need a lot of maintanence (rebuild yearly) and they are STIFF factory, you will need a re-valve. They do usually come with clicker shocks which helps you dial it in. They can be re-valved to ride nice on the trail. Good deal on this skid is under $500 and figure another $100 or so to get it set up correctly (rebuild, etc).
Personally I would LOVE to have the mono but it just too much money for the weight savings, plus add up some parts to make it handle some abuse (extra wheels, stiffer spring, shock rebuild). If I could get a mono for under $600 with all upgrades it would be the best skid for ANY sled.

Any leads, find a skid yet? "Kinger" in this thread is posting good info and I agree with most of his material. I have the Pro-X rear skid and I built a bit of a ditch banger with my sled, so the shoe fits.
My Walker Evans shocks have been good so far, one season and they're still strong, but the Edge skids with the Fox Position Sensitive shocks ride REAL nice. I say go with an Edge, SC10-II or SC10-III skid, either one is a winner. FYI the SC10-III basically has a slightly longer rear arm for more travel, but the SC10-II is still a superior skid to a ProAction.

Just some info for people that may not know. The Fox PPS shock stand for polaris position sensitive. What it does is take the first 25% of the shock travel with the shocks dampening, then the next 50% of the travel have bypass holes in the shock body and allow for ZERO dampening, then the last 25% is again working like a normal shock. What this is does is over small to medium bumps your riding on the springs of the suspension so very soft and very nice your seat practially stays in the same spot over 4-7" bumps! If you get into a hard hit the dampening of the shock on either end help prevent bottoming out and kick out. You can add bands to this shock to take away some of this "PPS" effect and help to make it take some more abuse (if you find your bottoming out too much). Overall I think this shock is the cats meow!!!

it seems everyone agrees 121" proaction sux. hard to believe some people raved about them when it first hit the snow.

I don't think they suck that bd, I enjoyed my Viper, but times change and its a little outdated, but still decent skid. I'm mainly turned off at the weight at 73lbs.

one thing you missed is that on the legend is that those slds have the softest seat i have ever seen on a sled. seeing a legend and an mxz parked to gether same skid. and you will see the differnce is in the seat. the legend is super soft the mxz has a lot stiffer foam. this realy helps the ride.

I did a search and found only one person with demintions. I think i am going to find a 05 and measure for my self. I also heard that the rear mount for the pro-action is in the correct spot, but I am going to verify.

I put a doo SCIII skid in my 03 RX1. What a difference over the junk Pro Action. Hooks up 100 % better handles bumps much better. I am a heavy guy 260 pounds I went with the heavy duty doo springs and am having both shocks revalved only about 200 bucks in all. I also have alot of diagrams and pictures. I got lucky a guy on this site who lived about 8 miles from me had already done it and let me take pics and check his out. Even let me take it for a ride. Let me know if you need anything I am pretty sure I can find all of my diagrams etc. It didnt even take that long one 8 hour night at my buddies shop and that included replacing the track changing the oil and swapping out the front drive shaft bearing. I have to be honest though I only did it because Bender was too slow getting me my mono I had money down and everything just took too long
