Ok guys I need some help with what I should do to my Apex and what not to waste my time on. Sled is new to me has 153 studs down the center added protection and aftermarket skis. Is the PC5 definatelt needed to realize the full potential of this sled? Clutch kits? Have heard the clutching is about spot on better than older Apexes. I have a 2 speed, Drag n Flies, and Ulmer Stage 2 kits that I can put in if needed and I mean noticable performance gains compared to stock. I think I can also use my Ram Air kit just gotta cut it some to the new style airbox. Is it worth it though? Anything else that is a must in your opinion? Gonna ride it before doing any suspension revalves but how about the settings in front and rear shocks? I'm 250 geared up. Limiter strap settings and transfer rod? I wanna rail without the crazy ski lift. I also have a 13mm sway bar is it worth installing on the new Apex? Any help will be greatly appreciated. I loved my 09 LTX and my 06 RTX still think the 06 RTX is the best looing Apex made to date just my opinion. I hated I mean hated the 09 XP 800R renegade I just sold. Fit and finish sucked buzzy motor and the extreme rider forward I just couldn't get use too. It was fast but no TQ what so ever compared to the Apex. Help me out fellas and once I know this machine in and out I will repeat and pass on my knowledge to someone else Thanks Mark and ride safe but ride like hell......

I think you could wake it up with ram air and pc 5, these sleds are really lean to begin with...

60 PSI ish Front and Probably 175 - 180 ish rear is a good starting spot probably for your weight on decent trails. [easier to take it out than put it in]
Limiter strap up 1 hole, Transfer Rod 1 line from full transfer or full transfer, should get you started and fine tune from there.
Clutching is very good and power is awesome on a stocker. My NA sled is bone stock and has no trouble with 800 E-Tecs over 500 feet unless it is loose snow.
You can get 8 HP or so with an airbox mod and controller and that will require clutching.
Up to you whether that amount of money for 5% increase is worth it. To me it is not worth it, because the engine clutching package is awesome as it arrives.

Well said, and correct. Personally, I wouldn't waste a dime on a sled that will do 115mph stock......and faster if you have the room. It can do with some tweaks with different skis or suspension adjustments (free), but if I were you, I'd save the money. But then again, when you have guys putting in different plugs to eek out a negligible increase in output (says who), then you may want to throw your bucks at it to squeeze every last bit of energy from the motor.
You'd probably be wiser to lose a bit of weight. Not only will you increase the power to weight ratio, but you'll be heathier as well.

The problem from what I've been told is the New Apex doesn't make the claimed 163 hp without a PC5 or a chip to fool the ecu into thinking its colder out. When the New 2011 Apex was tested by Woody from Woodys Performance center in Maine he told me personally that the chip and holes put into the airbox is what made the true 162. whatever HP which Yamaha didn't put out to the public. I'm pretty sure there was talk about it on here if I remember right too. So for the motor to run to its FULL potential I think the PC5 at least is needed. I maybe wrong....

The other thing is I already have the ram air lid just got to modify it a bit to work on the 2011 and I can sell my PC3 and Ing module and the PC5 is paid for but if they are not needed to gain the full power the 163 area then I won't and just sell the stuff but like I said above I don't think the newer Apexes met that hp rating without these mods I maybe wrong please prove me wrong and I'll save some money...LOL
