I'm installing an Excell header next week onto my Attak. No programmer or full exhaust, just the header for now.
Does anybody have direction on a great Drag & Fly recipe (Tip, Mid weights, Overdrive, Heel) on Drag & Flys when adding headers, especially Excell?
Excell says plan on 5hp gain midrange gain and 2-3 hp gain on top gain. I am a clutching novice. Something tells me to add some weight to the mid, and maybe to the tip or OD.
Anybody have a pretty much stock Attak/ LTX Apex with Drag & Flys and want to share a starter recipe once the Excell header is added? Thx!

Re: Drag & Fly recipe for stock Attak / LTX with Excell
Depending on a white or black spring go:
1 bolt 4 washer in arm
1 bolt 1 washer in centre
1 bolt 1 washer in tip
Overdrive empty
If your missing on the top end try and remove a washer from the tip and that may help. If you've got too much top end add a washer to tip/centre. Each position will change your mid-range/top end. With the gains your expecting you may be really high with rpms but time will tell. Just let us know on your rpm #'s.

I would be very suprised if you see any + in rpm with just adding headers as far as having to mess with your clutching if it's good now.

i put hauck loud exhaust on after i had my set up on and was hitting rev limiter all the time, my secondary was at 6-1, little increases in hp may put you in a top end rpm that you dont want to be in

The springs you decide to use, greatly change the numbers of washers you need, and there placement. I generally use the blk. spring, but w/that you will need to completely load the weight up,even the od hole w/5.2 should still see 10,8-- to 11,000 depending on gearing, and your clutches will be very cold, and that is a good thing.Super Sled said:yamahahaapex said:Depending on a white or black spring go:
