Just curiously everybody.....
Would installing 8 tooth extros with a different track effect clutching at all?
I'm guessing it will because they say it's akin to gearing down some......
Anybody have thoughts on this?
Thx,
Mike

I depends on what pitch 8 tooth extros you're looking at.
If you replace your stock 9 tooth drivers that have the standard 2.52" pitch with the same 2.52" pitch extro 8 tooth drivers you're effectively gearing your sled down. That would raise your rpms which would result in needing a clutching change to bring your rpms back down.
If you're looking to use 2.86" pitch extro 8 tooth drivers than you shouldn't have to change your clutching. That pitch driver will have approx. the same O.D. as the stock 2.52" pitch 9 tooth driver. You of course would have to change your stock 2.52" pitch track to a track that would use the 2.86" pitch.
Just curious as to why you're looking at switching to the 8 tooth extros?

Hello Boomer!!!!!!
Nothing I plan to do anytime soon, but someday I may extend the sled and I own 2.52 pitch, 8 tooth extros.
But maybe I'll just hold on to those for the trusty Mt Viper once it comes time for a track change on that one!!!!!
Thx all!
Mike

I been using VX1R's recipe so far this year and it's gone well.
But my sled is changing, so I'm looking for some input on what changes I should make.......
I'm installing an Excell header next week onto my Attak. No programmer or full exhaust, just the header for now.
Does anybody have direction on what are common changes people make (Tip, Mid weights, Overdrive) on Drag & Flys when adding headers.
Excell says plan on 5hp gain midrange and 2-3 hp gain on top. I am a clutching novice. Something tells me to add some weight to the mid, and maybe to the tip or OD.
Anybody have a pretty much stock Attak with Drag & Flys and play with clutching a bit once they added the Excell header ? Thx!
