This has probably been asked before, but here goes... Can you change the jackshaft and driveshaft bearing on the PTO side of the Apex without having to dig into the chain case? DO YOU NEED A PULLER or does it come off easy, jackshaft and driveshaft? Probabaly going to change them soon, just so it does not blow out on me. I have 2400 miles now.....

Thanks...

I am getting read to change the driveshaft bearing speedo side only . Dealer told me not neccessary to change the chaincase side 4900 kms on sled.

jack shaft will be ok , it doesn't see the water the driveshaft see's.

Loosen the track ,
The chain case doesn't have to be touched.
Just the 3 bolts at the speedo pu , and the torx set screws inside the tunnel on the bearing collar !
Also remove the speedo gear ! Out it comes !

I was gonna try to remove the cover and add grease to them both....several guys say its not to hard to do.

anyone actually changed a JACK shaft bearing yet?....looks like you might have to remove entire shaft?

Dan

You will find rust and water in the bearing , the grease will be hard.

My 2007 rtx needed one this fall ,1600miles !

It is much easier doing it at home than on a trip with no parts / tools !!!!!!

Do the torx sets screws need loc-tite when re-installing?

I just did mine,The jack shaft bearing behind the secondary was fine,i had a little bit of grease but it look like new.the front drive shaft bearing on the speedo side was rusty and water in it.So i spray the bearing with brake cleaner, turn the track to make the bearing turn and re clean, then i re pack the bearing with grease. Now my sled cost much better now than before.I will wait until i change my track to replace the bearing.

The drive shaft bearing is the easy one. I just replaced mine at 7000 miles and it only took a half hour or so. The jackshaft bearing is a real pain as you have to pull apart the chain case and pull the shaft.
I also pry out the dust cover on both bearings once a year and repack with grease. Its easy to do as long as you are careful.
