Hello,

I have two 07 Attak GT'S - one has 1300 miles and one has almost 2000 miles. I keep hearing about Jackshaft Bearings and Drive shaft bearings needing to be checked. I am going on a week long trip to WI in Feb. With the mileage I have do I need to get them checked before my trip? I know the jackshaft is behind the secondary, but where is the drive shaft bearing located?

I would have to have the dealer check these as I am not mechanically inclined unfortunatley or I can have a friend help me after the season.

Thanks!

Mark

driveshaft bearing is located directly below the secondary. The driveshaft drives your track. The driveshaft bear has a retainer held on by 4 bolts, has a gear looking thing bolted in the shaft, and has a sensor for the speedometer.

Driveshaft bearing is below the jackshaft where the speedo pickup is located. Remove the flange and then you can pick the bearing seal off and check the bearing.

I would have someone look at the driveshaft bearing for sure. My driveshaft bearing seems to loose more grease than the secondary one. I just service my bearings (secondary & driveshaft) and they seem to be just fine. Both bearings are very easy to service but if and when they go out your done. Every year I pull the bearings outer seal off both bearings, inspect them, then add grease. Reinstall the outer seal and your set for another year. You & I might be fine by not checking these bearings but thats not good enough for me. I want to do as much preventative maintenance as I can in hopes that my snowmobile trip is a successfull one. Best thing to do is have your friend help you out before your trip.
