The 2008 and 2009 FX Nytro drive shafts have got different part numbers (8GL-47511-00-00 and 8GL-47511-10-00). Does anybody know what the differences are and if they are interchangeable...? I have heard something about an updated lower sprocket bolt, is the shaft updated because of this...?

Typically the 3rd element of a Yamaha P/N is a configuration code. For instance, a colored part will have the same P/N except the blue version might be a -00, the red a -01, the black a -02, etc. For a hard part like a shaft, they might have changed a plating spec, a tolerance, a metal alloy, etc. The parts are geometrically the same, but there is something different that you cannot see. The new part (in this case -01) would be backwards compatible to the -00. It is quite likely that the -00 is no longer available and replacements for a -00 would have to be the -01.

xxx-xxxxx-10-00 tells that it is a upgraded part that replaces the xxx-xxxxx-00-00 part, thus the parts are interchangeable 100%. To find out exactly what the upgrade consist of you have to have access to the Yamaha dealership network system, your dealer should be able to look that up... if they have the time...
