Tried to install BOP's driveshaft saver on a 2014 RTX SE with 9,000 miles and found the shaft to be worn down a lot. I was at 75 pounds of torque and the bearing was still loose on the shaft. Got out the Micrometers to check things out, found the I.D. of the bearing was within .001 of spec but the shaft was worn significantly. We could see a shoulder that developed on the back side of the shaft where bearing rides. Not gonna take any chances with it so a new shaft will be ordered up.

That sucks but I am afraid many will find shaft wore real bad. Once new or fixed that BOP wedge will stop it from ever happening again.

It does suck Steve but all will be good soon. He decided on new but gonna tool up the old one for a spare. Can't have too many spare parts on hand with these CATS...lol! Also doing a oil/filter and chain case oil change, once in the chain case I told him to pull out the adjuster, glad we did as the screw on the back side was almost backed out completely . Got that tack welded up so one more thing off the list of permanent fixes. Just to be safe he also ordered a new top gear. Gonna get some new bushings as well and replace the worn bushing in the old gear for a spare. Soon our group will have enough spare parts to build a sled....:hide:

I always end up with spare parts whenever I take something apart. In fact if I take something apart enough times I'll end up with two of them!
