my dad has a 05 venture and we have always had trouble getting fuel into the carbs after it has been stored, this year i found a kwik fix to get fuel flowing. just pull the air box lid and hold your hand over the air horn it will draw fuel right away, usually will start to fire on that cyl. so just move to next horn and cover for a couple seconds and then it seems to pull fuel to all 3 carbs and your good to go, their is a lot of sucktion and will collapse the horn so be ready to pull yer hand away, don't use a rag or anything that can be sucked into the motor. just thought this would help getting them going for ya. let me know if this works for ya i've done this twice now with great results happy sleddin
 
I found my Vector very hard to start last year too, I've since heard of another trick to try. Behind the secondary clutch you will see a fuel vent line going into the chassis, just blow into the end of the line and it should pressurize the system and start alot easier. I am going to try it this year, hopefully it works as good as I've heard.
 
Yes, the trick of pressurizing the tank by blowing in the vent line works great and it's much easier than pulling the air box.

I call it the LazyBlow...
I believe LazyBastard came up with this tip 3 or 4 years ago for RXs. Worked right up the one time i needed it.

Tried it this year and it didn't work for me. I am known to be a blowhard! :tg:
 
This year I pulled the top of the airbox and squirted an ounce or so of gas directly into the 3 carb throats. Full choke and hit starter button, it fired and died but kept running after the 3rd time I did it. Very easy to do. Last year I ran the starter forever before the carbs filled and the sled fired.
 
I just went out and tried LB's tank vent trick on mine again. I've used the trick before. The sled has been sitting in the barn untouched for 19 months since I couldn't ride last year. Battery was dead as a stone so I hooked cables up to an extra car battery I have, blew in the tube and and pinched it off with needlenose pliers. Cranked about 15 secs and fired up without stalling. Running smooth out there right now.

Hopefully that Stabil I used a year and a half ago has worked! ;)!

Just putting my thumb over the end of the line worked fine to hold the pressure if you don't have a clamp or pliers handy....
 
I tried something reallllllllllllllllllll different this year. I got brave and cut the fuel lines just before the fuel pumps.... Installed two inline bulb pumps like you see on outbards... Hey it worked... Give them a few pumps while cranking the motor.. Darn thing started so fast I wasn't even ready.... ;)! MM.
 
Guys, To solve this issue ... starts your sled one or twice a month during the summer for a few minutes ... This will keep your carbs clean et it will always stars ... don't forget to ADD stabilizer at the end of the winter.

That's true, that will solve the dry carb issue. I used to do that a few years back and it worked but my carbs gummed up anyway. These tricks are so easy there is no reason to have to start them repeatedly all summer. They get hot very quickly while idling in the summer, and it's easy to foul plugs with repeated short run periods.
 
Vent tube is the easiest. Blow, plug with thumb and turn the key! Starts right up every year! (Works on Ski Doos too!)
 
Just doesn't sound like a good idea to blow into the fuel tank? I use a slight amount of starting fluid in each carb and put the air box cover back on, choke it and it starts on the first try.

Why? Do you mean for health reasons or possible damage to the system? Most fuel sustems and tanks are pressurized. Not sure on the sleds, but my waverunner is.

No right way or wrong way. Whatever works best for y'all.
