Not trying to hijack this thread but Id like to hear more about the fuel economy on any hp tune running 87 or 91 octane fuel.
I'll be looking at buying a sidewinder in the next few months here and would like to just run a clutch kit and stock muffler tune and something that's switchable from 87 to 91, I have those days when I just want to cruise and get great mileage and those full pinned from stop sigh to stop sign.

Most all tunes get better MPG then stock sled.
I know with my 270 tune, I only need to push the flipper half as far to go fast, as I do with 240 tune. More power just are not holding it as long or as far.
87 can be run anytime you are not holding it WOT....I ran entire weekend Qc trip, hi speed trails on 87. Nice to know its easily done, but for lake or any length of WOT knock lite comes on fast, so run 91 or more for that type of riding.

So your saying that 87 can be run in most Winder's with a tune as long as you're not too greedy with the flipper? Most all tunes get better MPG then stock sled.

I would assume it burns more of 87 than 91 to achieve similar power .

The higher octane doesn't necessarily get more Hp, it is just safer because it's HARDER to ignite & has less chance of pre-igniting or knock when cylinder pressure gets higher i:e boost.
