ECP kit vs. CPR kit Any pros or Cons?

Regarding your question do they work? I believe they should help particularly when the slide is in its upper or open position. I beleive they cleanup the transition from the filter to the carb. Without these rings you need to compress the filter opening quite a bit to make they stay put. I worry about how ratty the transition from the filter to the carb becomes. I made a set for myself in my shop an integrated the evac system in it. As soon as I learn how to post pics, I put them on here. My evac system is also heated so I don't have to worry about draining anything or having the system freeze up. The rings I made are longer than the ones Freddie made (see the pic above) and I polished them. So another advantage is I now have more polished stuff under the hood than you.

If you decide to get the rings, have Freddie make them for you.

Ummm, I was just curious after seeing those pictures of the CPR air kit. I was e-mailing back & forth to Freddie back in the fall of 2003 and he (Freddie) sent me some pictures (to tease me) about these velocity rings to put into the kit to improve air flow. I could be wrong but those rings in Jeff's kit look almost identical to the pictures I saw from Freddie. So I was wondering if Jeff (From CPR) came up with these on his own, or does he get them from Freddie AND my big question is how do they work? Should I add them to my air kit??????..................Cubby

Thank you for the support Cubby and Jim. For starters, I know Jeff is a very smart guy. They work very well on the dyno. I have yet to field test them however. I will not release anything prior to thoroughly testing them! END OF STORY!!! I will admit though that my inertia engine dyno is as close as it gets to actual "field testing". Therefore, I expect them to work in the field. A local-to-me customer offered me his RX1 with my ECP Air Kit on offered me his RX1 to test these free of charge as he and his family were going to Europe on vacation for 3 weeks. It was 61 degrees here Monday! I can't take the time to go God only knows where to find snow because we are wayyy busy in the shop. I decided to give a local customer them to test as he will literally drive to the end of the earth for snow. I have to wait to get the report back from him before I am willing to release them.

I say easy easy guys. Thier two competetors that have brought similar products to market. They both adveretise on this site and have a right to market what they want. Ultimately it's the consumers choice on whom they want to deal with.

I don't know about specifics of the rings, but I know from my own experience that the filters won't seat properly on the carbs without them. I was told you will not have the correct air flow without them. I was also told that there are actually 2 different styles of rings (original and a newer version.)

The filters will tighten down just fine without the velocity rings.

Yeah, what he said. I still have the rubber flap on my carbs and my filters are seated snug without any noticeable strain on the filter mouths.

my own experience

Again, I was just posting about my own experience with the rings. If some of you others didn't have to go through the frustration that I did, that's great. I did get a chance to try mine again with the helix in a new position. I also had to file away a little bit of the clutch to get clearance for the allen bolt. I finally got it to tach over 10k again. Shot to 10 out of the hole and creeped to 10,300 and got close to 10,400 at times. Anyone know what top RPM should be? I was thinking I was in the ball park, but it sure feels like the sled had the potential to give a little more.
