I am wondering how many phazer owners have had a problem that was resolved with replacement of their ECU.
I have a code 81 (grip warmer open or short) and I am quite certain its the ECU.
Everythng else on the sled works (starts, runs, thumb warmer, reverse, cooling fan cycles, etc).
The ECU is getting a grip warmer signal from the blue toggle switch but the display will not show the grip warmer setting and the grips do not get warm.
The grip resistance is in spec and there are no opens or shorts in that circuit.
If you could let me know why you replaced your ECU, it would be appreciated.
This will also help provide some data on how common ECU failures are.
Thanks!!!

If you know someone that would be willing to swap their ECU for troubleshooting that would help eliminate the ECU.

I can't remember ever reading about a failed ECU but I guess anything is possible. Did you get a copy of the repair manual? It has full electrical schematics. You should check all the way to the ECU on that circuit. You never know if a mouse or something damaged a wire somewhere.

Just make sure you don't put an 8GP-00 in it that was the 2007 ECU that had cold start and idle issues. Would work for your code testing issue though.

All my riding Buds are on two smokes so I don't know anyone locally that has a Phazer ECU to try.
I am the one laughing at the gas station though.

I have the manual for it and have this traced this grip warmer circuit several times and do not see any issues. My machine is in the garage and I do not have any mice issues.
Based on the number of thread viewers, it doesn't appear as though phazer owners have had any ECUs that have failed.
Thanks for the input Guys!

I have never heard of one. Place I would highly suspect is the plug in back of guage. There are time consuming pin tests you can perform and then just visual of the pins and sockets, Personally that is where I would look first.
