I am new to the forum and have been watching the postings. I bought a 2007 Apex Mtn this year, my first four-stroke. Hope it snows soon.

Has anyone heard of any rumors about Yamaha coming out with an electronic reverse for the Apexs.
I know all of the other manufacturers have them why not Yamaha?

The reverse kits for all Yamaha's have been mechanical up until this year. The new Phazer has pushbutton reverse. I have not heard any rumors of a kit for the Apex sleds.

As far as why: Ski Doo owns the patent on spinning a two stroke backwards - Polaris has an agreement to use the technology. AC's new system does not spin the motor backwards it is built into the Diamond Drive unit. Since it is not possible to spin the 4 stroke sled motors backwards - my guess is that the Phazer reverse is a electronically activated motor to operate something similar to their existing mechanical reverse system.

I agree. And then what's the point?
It won't get lighter, that's for sure. (yes they do remove the reverse handle, but then they add a motor and something).
