I am extremely interested in purchases a phazer this summer. I've heard they are on the pokey side, but the phazer offers almost everything I desire in a sled.
As I enjoy making stuff go fast the phazer motor has a lot of possibilities. There are a few things I have been been pondering.
1. 2008 13.5:1 OEM YZ250F pistons
2 x $79.99
2. Custom welded and ground cams.
As there are numerous cams for the yz250f these measurements could easily be recreated on the phazer cam.
$300-$600
3. Ported Head
case of beer-$400 - I might know someone
4. Custom exhaust
using helmholtz resonators aka (fmf powerbomb) I know some people that have a few bent dirtbike headers but the powerbomb part is still intact.
2-1 stepped header with powerbombs in stainless to a fmf muffler.
5. opened airbox, and fuel system upgrade the usual stuff.
I believe I could do all of this for about $1500 if I play my cards right and buy enough beer for some people. I figure Id be right around 100+ hp?
Your thoughts?

The pahzer runs stock at 12.5:1.
The pipe is already a strit header pipe without resonators, people just weld mufflers on or clam.
Someone was making cams but discontiued them (I beleave).

You may make 65HP with your selected mods...

The reason I mentioned the higher cp pistons is because I put one into my 05 wr250f. It bumped the cp up from 12.5. This single mod gave an extremely noticeable increase in power. I believe this affect will be only more noticeable on the twin. It would only be $160.
by 100hp I meant at the crank if that holds true that the stock motor runs a true 80 at the crank. I believe 20hp is a decent goal considering some exhausts alone can add a claimed 9-10hp at the crank. You may make 65HP with your selected mods...

i would love to c u get 9-10hp with just exhaust im thinking 3-5 is a little more realistic

As these are from the manufacturer I agree they must be taken with a grain of salt. These numbers appear taken from the clutch shaft. Also they don't appear to be actual dyno graphs.

This does seem to be a stretch as the hauck GHT-R-Done Kit claims 9-12hp. But I'm not here to dispute nor discuss dyno claims from different manufacturers. I was simply stating it as a reference not a solid fact.
I have a lot of experience working with yz250f engines as I own one and have done quite a bit internally.
I am asking for input and thoughts on real internal motor work on the genesis 80.

welcome c9ollie, Cannondale has a thread in the stickies of a motor tear down, some info there. Otherwise you will find repeating questions about closing the tunnels, not starting, crappy handling, and burning phazers.
Good to see someone with a interest in getting the phazer up to 100hp you are right on the motor possibilities, and I hope you pursue, and share your results, not sure why the other replies to your post are acting like dicks, because personally Im not impressed when every post ends with Take it to your dealer.

Do everthing you can to your phazer engine , report back , and try to dyno it , see how much more hp you can get over a stocker .

You can't use oversize pistons on this engine for 2 reasons. The cylinders are too close together and the water jacket is too thin. Cam work, milling the head, unshrouding the valves and a port (I don't recommend polish) job will get some good gains. The exhaust will net a small increase in power but its more likely due to losing 20 lbs of muffler. 100hp is doable I believe but its going to be hard on an already high-strung, high compression engine.

C9ollie, Like your idea of building some additional power. Anything new since February? Perhaps the moderator will issue you a sticky on "Motor Modifications"?

im working on a low boost turbo set up that should hopefully get close to 100 hp mark reliably. it will run 5 psi using an external waste gate. i have talked to a few people and some had good luck with the boosted phazers and others not so go. ill let you know how my kit turns out if your interested. side note i did call JE and for approx $800 you can have a custom piston set up made. good news is you get two sets (min order is 4)

Do it!Nobody is even running a ported head or did cam timing on stock cams yet.Phazer power is definitly in infancy yet.I am as guilty as any since I just cant bring myself to go into the motor since it still runs.I hope you do and I get jealous so I get some ambition to dig in myself!Good Luck C9.Think about it you could make some history.

This would be my answer!. If I change my pistons I'm lowering the compression to run more boost on pump gas. It sounds like 5psi psi is doable on 91 octane, drop the compression to 11.5:1 or 11:1 and you could probibly pull 8-9psi on pump gas. I've also been thinking of a low boost setup, just a simple Turbo, NO INTERCOOLER as its a waste at low boost, and 5psi boost should be enough to get ~105hp.
