I just bought a new 08 Apex LTX with zero miles. I took it out for the first time this morning. I started it and it stalled twice before it stayed running on the third try. It is only 8 degrees here in southern Maine. I let it warm up for about 10-15 minutes before taking off with it. When I give it the gas the motor coughs like it was cold but it's not. Once it gets past that it runs like the wind. I ran it for a while and the motor still coughs on take off. If I slowly give it the gas to take off it runs fine. I called the dealer and he thinks there might be water in the gas or maybe a fouled plug. He suggested putting some isopropyl alcohol in it. If it had a fouled plug, wouldn't it run rough all the time? Anybody else have this problem?

how many times have you just started it to hear it in the garage or show your buddies without taking it out to ride?

I got over that stuff when I had my 04 Warrior. I got it back home a month ago from the dealer and it hasn't been started until today.

ok just checking lots of guys do fifty miles of idle in the garage and then it falls on its face first ride.

I have had issues with low fuel amount in tank and working in heated garage then taking outside to 0 deg weather any water in the fuel just condensates due to dewpoint. The fuel injection is preesurized and when moisture laden fuel is pressurized the water vapor becomes water droplets. I would try the gas dryer cheapest fix available.

It almost sounds like a poosible vacuum leak but I would think you would get a code on that.

Last year I had an Apex motor and all electronics in an rx-1 and went to yellowstone. I was in my garage finishing the electric fuel pump install at 70 deg. with half tank of fuel. Loaded and drove strait to Idaho at -35. Sled would not start and then ran rough for about half the 1st day even with fresh gas and dryer in it then it cleared and ran fine.

It is dispariging though on a brand new sled.

I did start my 04 Warrior alot when I first got it so I know what you're saying about that. :4STroke: The 08 runs really strong and sounds nice and smooth once I get past that coughing on take-off. I'll try the gas dryer. Hopefully that will cure it. Thanks Yamadog.

Ya know I did not even think about it but I went to the UP on Thursday and I started mine on the trailer it was about 10 mins. till I backed it off and I hit the go button and it belched about 3 or 4 times and then cleared it did not do it the rest of the day but it was always at least warm when I started it.

It did not idle rough but coughed and fell on its face.
