2012, eps appears in lower right corner of gauge, and no power steering for first 35-50 miles. Then all of a sudden it starts working, and works all day. Next morning same deal, all week. Anybody know what is going on? Riding with 2013 and it never did it. It was Really cold, but the other sled didnt seem to care.

I just went through a similar issue, although my EPS didn't work all day. What I think happened in my case was that quite a bit of snow got into the nose of the sled and caused an incorrect reading from all the moisture in the EPS wiring, as there is a bunch of them there.

I cleared out all the snow, disconnected the wiring, dried the wires with a heater, applied dielectric grease, reconnected the wires and cleared the fault codes (several were triggered). I then lubed up all the steering linkages, bushings and tie rods to free up steering effort as it was pretty hard.

EPS worked flawlessly this past weekend since I serviced it, although it wasn't that cold....time will tell.

Mine happen a couple times on really cold days and lots of snow dust then the next day it wouldn't work after driving about 20 miles it would kick in.

I have a 2011 and it does the same thing when it's cold (-15F and below), when you need it most........once outside temps warm up it starts working....the more current sleds don't seem to do this....good luck on trying to get a fix from Yamaha

my 2011 has never had this happen but i do have the Yamaha storage bag over top of it so that might be why. It helps keep the snow off of it and also keeps it warm. I would do what Grimm did and see if that helps you out
