Rode about sixty miles today with no issue, stopped at a friends place for a minute, hit some deep snow in the ditch on the way out of his place and less than half a mile later I have Er-1 then changing to Er-2 flashing as well as a temp and engine light flashing and the red and yellow idiot lights all flashing. The old Nytro looked like a dam christmas tree! Anyway I pulled over and shut her down right away, checked the oil and coolant, normal stuff. Then I called my dealer quick and he said it was a communication failure from the ecu and recommended checking battery cables and also said it should be in limp mode but wouldn't hurt the sled to ride it. So I checked the cables they were tight, I did have a lot of snow and ice packed in the nose around the ecu and the heat sink, I cleaned all if that out and after sitting for a while I started it back up and all was good so off we went, the sled never was in limp mode. Another four or five miles down the trail It came up again, pulled the panels off checked some more connections started it up again and no code flashing and still no limp mode. So off we went again rode another sixty or so miles with absoultly no issues, no codes, nothing. Sorry for the long post but I didn't want to miss anything, anybody have any ideas what could have caused this, wet connections at ecu, overheated ecu, a cold ecu packed with ice? I am totally stumped I would love to hear any ideas. Thanks Adam

Probably getting moisture in the connections. Id try and dry it out really well and apply dielectric to as many connections are you can under the hood, + ensure they seat properly when reinstalling them. Once you put the grease in, it makes it harder to connect them as you have to squeeze out some grease at the same time.

I have ERR-1 on the Phazer due to a bad plug at the back of the unit. It would light up when turning full left or full right. Still does it, no limp-home mode activated.

Dry the connections, also make sure the battery is good. I have had an Er_1 code that was fixed by a new battery/charge.

Take the battery connections off an clean them while you're at it.. Eliminate as many problem areas as possible.

Thanks for the ideas guys, it's in the process of drying out in the garage right now. It is still the original battery and it is an 08' maybe it's starting to get tired, I'll start with the connections and go from there, thanks again.

I just had that with my son's Phazer FX with err-1. It was caused by the secondary clutch rubbing on the speedo sensor wires when it would open up.
Definitely check the connector on the back of the pod. Could also be moisture either there or possibly in the ECU connector. Check the wiring for any damage. Reading up on this, it could be a weak battery or a bad relay, possibly the load control relay.

Battery is defiantly on the list, she is in the garage drying out now for some general meantinence and so I can go through the electrical connections and grease them. One other question, did yamaha release any other electrical updates other than the solid state starting relay? One of these is going in also while I'm at it, just wondering if there is anything else I should look at or pick up while I'm checking into this gremlin!
Thanks again, Adam

Nothing really, even the new relay is just an update for a possible no start problem, not related to your current issue. But throw one in while you're in there - sure.
Order a few while you're at it, they fit a couple of different relays. Be sure to use dielectric grease, and you can even hit the connectors with a hair dryer for 30 seconds a pop before greasing them, just to be sure.
Everything else has been mentioned above.
