error code 81 yamaheater problem????

Went for ride tonight on the way back hand warmers stopped working for about 10 miles then my headlight went out and motor started to stall I hit the gas light came back on and motor kept running but the old yellow light came on flashing code 81 rode for 15 minutes with frozen fingers then warmers started working again, light still flashing. going to look into it tomorrow saw on here code means a short or open circuit, does anybody have any ideas??? I did also just install HID but have had a few rides on them with no issues.

Unplug your heaters and see if your problem disappears.

I have code 81 come up when I start my sled with the sled start but usually goes off when you rev up the motor or just restart the sled Kurt from sledstart tells me it a voltage issue. You should check your battery connections maybe coming loose?

ssx600 you may be on to something, bolt on negative post of battery was a little stripped when I installed HIDs Ill check that first thing after work tomorrow!

checked battery and the threaded block on positive battery terminal was missing, found in belly pan put back together and still have error code 81, could there be a blown fuse?

Code 81 is a short circut detected in your hand and thumb warmers. Mine threw the same code when the handwarmers shorted out and quit working. It will also throw the same code if they are unplugged, I would start by checking your connections

Neverhad an issue with the YamaHeater on my sled. Did you contact Rock?

funny, i have had this same code come up on my 07 phazer with the wamaheater kit. shut the sled off for 2 min and the code goes away. starting to come up about every 50 miles now tho
