noticing pics of the home-evac systems, i dont see stock catch boxes being used, any reason, makes sense to me to use it ? no? i am putting mine together this weekend, and see the stock catch box inline as a plus i would think... ?

Either way works fine. I personally would still use the black plastic catch can by choice.

some guys were saying the factory one can freeze up, so that's why you take it off...i never had it freeze, but removed it anyway...just think of the 1 ounce weight saving as well

mmmkokanee, it wasn't the catch basin that was freezing, it was the hose leading up to the catch basin and/or the hose leading from the catch basin to the air box. That is why in 04 they put a slit in the hose so that if it froze and got plugged, the slit would allow pressure to release.

I posted a week or so ago with my setup using the stock catch with pictures. I think this is the way to go. It should take care of any of the problems we have had with oil consumption. I will bring up the topic again.
