just put on my new donuts and started it up and some smoke rolling from inside, smells funny to, will these smoke a bit when new?
did let it sit, started it again and wasn't as bad.. little to none..
oil leve was a 1/4 quart low before the first start of the season.... should i be worried. my dealers said these sled should use zero oil.
thanks and happy holidays.

Yes after working down there it will smoke a bit. Did you check the oil level hot or cold? Makes a big diff on the stick if it's not fully warmed up.

Noticed the same thing. Did you use any WD40 or penetrating oil on any of the bolts? That is what smoked on mine.

My 07 apex burns oil, especially after alot of high speed running. Maybe 3/4 qt between oil changes. Some say there's don't others do, may have something to do with how hard you run them.

Just a thought.... but if you had the air intake out at some point and inadvertently switched the bottom hoses you will end up with oil consumption and oil in the air box.
Any chance this could be the cause?

Bottom hoses?
Sorry, newb question, I recently added a heated shield plug to my Vector and gained access to the battery.
I noticed one hose on the bottom of the air box but I don't believe it was attached to anything?

one is a crank case vent and the smaller one is a drain I think. The larger one 3/4" ? came up from the engine and connected at the top on the clutch side and the small one 3/8? connected at the low point more towards the middle in the air box, I didnt look to see where it went, I was on a different mission and didnt pay attention.
If I have it wrong, I will be corrected Im sure.

Sorry, but I don't recall the configuration...(I have my sled at the lake house right now). I remember reading a thread a while ago about a guy that had switched the two hoses that connected low behind the battery. He thought his engine was bad and was thrilled when all it needed to correct the problem was the proper routing of these hoses/tubes. They are the same size and can easily be switched.
I thought this might be the case for OE poster.
Perhaps someone with more knowledge could chime in?

Looking straight ahead at the sled, there was a large hose from the left side and a smaller one coming from the engine that connected to the air box.
On mine I also noticed what seemed like just a drain/vent hose on the bottom of the lower part of the air filter box.
This hose I don't believe is connected to anything, correct?
I rode my sled on the 15th and 19th and never noticed any ill affects so I assume everything is alright?

Irv,
Just the two hoses on the carbed Vector to worry about, the larger one going in to the side of the air box and the pain in the rear one that attaches to the bottom and goes to the crankcase. And yes, the little one near the front is just a drain, doesn't attach to nuthin'.
