would a pipe off off a 250 f dirt bike be able to to handle the horsepower or would it be better to run something off off a bigger machine or just run one pipe perside and have a real dual exhaust . any info would be great. thanks

If you are using just the muffler its self it should be fine. For the most part, the only difference between a 250F pipe and 1000 sport bike is the size and number of steps in the mid pipe going from the header to the muffler. The core of most after market mufflers are around 2" diameter and the length and outlet size are varied depending on sound levels.

I used an FMF Factory 4 FIM 17" replacement muffler on my mountain lite before it was boosted. This muffler is used on all of FMF's 250f and 450f Factory 4 systems. Fit nice under the seat, but was VERY loud so i installed a quiet end cap that worked great. Used the Factory 4 because i could get just the muffler, no mid pipe, and different sized end caps for tuning sound and power.

You could also try a Supertrap IDS internal disc muffler. You can pick from a range of inlet sizes 1 1/2" to 2 1/4" and can add or remove discs for sound or power level.

Any bike shop can find these in Parts Unlimited, WPS or Tucker Rocky sreet or dirtbike books. Try to pick something that has some kind of tunability so you can make changes with out changing mufflers.
