He guys,

I have a stock exhaust and I developed a rattle and a possible leak this last trip. I cannot locate the rattle it actually sounds like its inside of the muffler but hard to tell.

Did the cover the exhaust trick and the sled died but not as fast as it did when I just put in donuts so I know there may be a small leak somewhere.

Also this weekend about the time the noise started my AF gauge is all over giving me lean spots when I know I'm not lean so that is another sign of a leak.

When you Y pipes crack at the flanges will it sounds like beebees in a can at the muffler?

They are original 06 ti y pipes. I checked them 300 miles ago and they were great shape.

Also the shocks are shot in my ZX2 so I have been bottoming out more then normal and sometimes really f'n hard.

Any suggestions would be great! Would love to just put in a full excel system from flex pipes back maybe this is a excuse

It could be the heat shield under the back of the seat. My 06 did this, there are to welds there that cracked.

Good point with the exhaust cover tabs. I had both front corner mounting points busted off mine when I checked it preseason. ALong with the rear tabs that the seat mounts to were also cracked. A little JB Weld fix and it has been good to go....so far. I could see that causing some rattling and easy enough to check.

I also had the rear bolts that holds the heat shield in place go missing. I noticed a rattle and checked it out. Good luck.

Yep I took it apart and lost like 3 bolts between the exhaust guard and side covers for the tail pipes. DOH. Replaced all the bolts with locktite and good to go!

Check the exhaust outlet shields on the muffler shield.

I had one of them loose on mine and it was rattling. They are only held in place on the muffler shield with a couple spot welds.

I had to put a pop rivet in to make nice and tight.
