Hi, I currently ride an 09 Nytro XTX and I have an Ulmer stage 3 I believe with excell header , k&N's , plugs and the clutch kit. Anyway im curantly running the Ultra Q exhaust and I was thinking of replacing it with either the Excell pipe or the yoshimura pipe. My question is when i was looking at the excell it only gives you the option of the header or complete exhaust and I allready have the header. Can you just buy the pipe? Another question is will a yoshimura bolt up to the excell header? Any info would be great. Thanks Scott

Call up Excell motorsports and you can buy just the exhaust.

The Yoshi will work and sounds flat out awesome. however, you prob will have to have a custom mid pipe created to make it fit. Yoshi exhausts to our sleds are sort of custom jobs. Not impossible, but you'll need to have a mid pipe fabbed up to mate the Yoshi to the y-pipes.

There are loads of streetbike silencers that will fit the standard header as well as the Excell header. You can find OEM silencers and you can find aftermarket silencers. You can find silencers that will be a direct fit and you can also find silencers that will require an adaptor sleeve or a custom built midpipe, depending on inlet diameter, inlet location and where you want the exit.
Personally, I am no big fan of Yoshimura's general build quality, but each to his own. The main point is that you can make most streetbike silencers work.

Attached is a picture of a modified Akrapovic silencer (their 2006-2007 CBR1000RR silencer). This one comes with a short midpipe that was shortened and re-angled to fit the standard header.
Attached is also a picture of a custom built Leo Vince silencer (basically a mirror part of their 2008-2011 CBR1000RR silencer). This one fits the standard header with no need for a separate midpipe.

Tried that with Excell. His system pipe is sized different than the stand alone header. He might offer to take the header on a trade if you buy the system. And by the way I also have the Ultra Q and love the sound.

Thanks for all the info. I did call Ulmer and yea different header then the one that comes complete. Might just leave the ultra Q.

Alatalo,

How does the Akro sound vs. the Leo Vance?

I was looking for an Akro like that, but I was too cheap and got a Jardine pig nose.. It is pretty loud, especially with the exhaust packing at the end of its life.

Without the dB killer inserts, they are pretty similar. If anything, the Leo Vince is just a little bit louder, probably because it is little bit smaller. Please note that both of them are Superbike legal which means they are not very loud with today's rules. For instance, the Ultra Q and the Super Q silencers are noticeably louder.

I never tried the Akrapovic silencer with the dB killer insert, but I did ride the Leo Vince quite a lot with the dB killer insert. The difference compared to riding without the insert is clearly noticeable. No louder than the OEM silencer during low- and midrange riding, just more of a rumble at idle and a little bit sharper at the very top rpm.

The reasons for going for one of these silencers are weight reduction and build quality. The Leo Vince unit is less than 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs) with all brackets included and the build quailty is nothing short of amazing (you can easy spend a night just looking at the welds...).

You could always try a Hindle. If you want to use your Excell header, you could get a Hindle slipon that works for a stock header...they should match up and you wouldn't have to get anything custom made as you get the adapter with it...you can also get it in a visible version or hidden.

Where do I buy the Hindle from?
