I noticed last night that the fiberglass in my exhaust shield (under the tank) is almost completely gone. Should I be worried? Looks like the parts break down shows only the metal shield and not the fiberglass. Any suggestions?

I would definitely replace that. I'm sure the aluminum shields come with the heat shield already installed.

there is a alum./sheet metal shield around the exh. coming out of the head. then another shield that sits under the tank. then you have the heat tape stuck to the tank.
you'd probably be ok, but i wouldn't take that chance having more heat on the tank.
you can get that stick-on heat wrap stuff pretty much anywhere.
