Why not just keep it simple and dump the exhaust out the back instead of shoehorning it 180 degrees then up and down into a side can? No one disputes the great sound straight shot out the back of the Nytro. One can keep the icing down with a tunnel block off.

Sounds just as nice IMO and I think I could hear it better then my Nytro. Just hope we didn't lose any HP cats claims 135 hp

I never liked the pipes out the back it made putting anything back there impossible.

Think of it this way, the gas tank would not be centralized with rear exhaust.

While the rear exit exhaust looks cool as hell it is about as useful as tits on a nun!
I wish yamaha would have routed it to the traditional exit location, it would make life so much easier on the nytro. I had an under tunnel exhaust but had to change it back because of clearance issues with a 1.75 track.

You know that cat had problems with tunnel ice with NO rear facing exhaust, right? Why would you want to destroy the track and tunnel and f@ck up the weight balance by doing that?!joelkness said:Why not just keep it simple and dump the exhaust out the back instead of shoehorning it 180 degrees then up and down into a side can? To solve all the freakin Y-pipe cracking and doughnut gasket wearing out nightmares is worth alot to me!!!
They could have still had rear exhaust.Just do it like my Phazer.Above tunnel and fully closed tunnel.Problem solved.Other solution would be through the running boards with a extrusion or something.I will miss the rear exhaust.

I would miss the quiet ride we get on the rear exhaust 3 cylinder yamahas....the engine sound is really cool out the back and then at cruising speed and above the engine noise vanishes.
I don't like havin to give that up for the everpresent side dump noise i experienced on the cat I rode.

they still use the same exact Y pipe and flex pipe setup that the nytro uses! the only change is everything after the pipe going into 1 single pipe..
