Hello guys, here is a problem or not that came up. I just reinstalled my 136 expert x, but this year I went to a 144 and set the suspension back the 4". Also added 10 tooth drivers. It Fits great and no issues there.
My issue is now there seems to be more play in the stability of the sled then I remember. Meaning stand on the sled and rock your weight from running board to running board. Sled rocks all over the place. to the point I can pull the ski off the ground.
Is this a sign the shocks are bad? Last season it rode fine and didn't feel like they were blown, Also this is a 2004 or 5 model, with no DTR and original shocks.
Any help would be great!

Really I do that all the time LOL. Seriously I can rock the sled side to side till I pull each ski off the ground a few times just for fun. I dont think there is anything to worry about, ride it first and see what you think. BTW I can rock mine with the ZX2.

If you make the vrooom vroom noise while doing it, it isn't as noticable. LOL

I was out messing around with it, making noises and all, I just don't remember having that much play in the chassis, before....maybe the set back on the skid is giving a different feel.
Who knows, just going to have to rip it down a field to see. Just was seeing if anyone, seen this before after setting their Expert back.
Also anyone have any good suggestions on shocks?

When you get done with your "noises" make sure you wipe the spit off the windshield right away.....
Regarding the flexing - don't forget moving that skid back added some weight to what was there previously on the front end?

I thought the expertx was the only skid that you could do a set back on and it wouldn't matter? Was that the DTR or something? I didn't understand I think it was lazy bastard explaining it to someone else and I didn't follow, didn't have a exertx so didn't care LOL.
Thanks for the tip on the spit

Get the teeter totter out again. Move the middle of the teeter totter a little to one side or the other, and what happens to the amount of weight at the long end? Moving the skid back doesn't let it suport the middle like it used to...
Yea, if you don't get that spit up right away, it can be a bugger to get off....

I have an Expert X 136 setback for 144. Also have the DTR available, but didn't install it. It has no more weight on the front end than it did with the Mono 136 with the limiter sucked all the way up. Very predictable transfer. In fact, I'd say less than my Mono had. Lifts the skis when I need to and rails, for a 144 LOL, around corners. I think you are experiencing a different tilt or tipin point. I have Powderhounds and it's easy to lay my Attak over with the current setup. Again, predictable, but much easier. Don't know if this helped, just my experience.

Its not the DTR. Its the length of the main arm. Having a SHORT main arm means that the rail rolls back further with respect to the driveshaft (causing the track to tighten up), which means that it is very critical that the main arm radius be approximately equal to the driver-to-rail-bend length (keeps the length around the skid equal to the length of the track). With the long main arm, suspension compression results in much less rail-move-back, so the track doesn't tighten up nearly as much. Add to that the fact that expertX doesn't cause the track to LOOSEN UP in high transfer situations, so you can run the track much more loose, which just gives you more slack for the slight tendency to tighten up when the suspension compresses.
A small setback (or rail extension) by itself is probably no trouble for most suspensions. When you start getting real trouble is when you go big, i.e., 121->144 using 4" setback + 7.5" rail extensions.... this definitely does not work... except for expertX.
