You can jam a 1gallon oil jug (filled with gas) under the hood in the front for an extra 10 or 20 miles. I'm going to relocate the electricial thing there and try to jam in a 2 gallon container -

Thats all you need is to be covered in gas if for some reason you kissed a tree with your front end, might as well keep a lighter in your pocket to finish it off.

locations where there's no gas for 120 or more miles - I ran out between hornpain and hearst (110 miles) this weekend at 90 miles hammeren powder. Put the extra gallon in and slowed down a little and made it.

Sparky = pyro - Tree = new sled anyway - Does anybody have a half full glass instead of empty.

Its just some helpful advise to be used when in need - thats all - no back rack necessary -

Tic, tic,tic,tic, BOOM.

Not a good idea. Same with NOS. Its all good till something leaks then your dead.

Curious--I never heard anyone complain about the Tour Buddy that fits on top of the clutches. Thanks waldo, my glass is half full.

This is a good idea...thanks for sharing. Apparently many on this site are just groomed trail riders who run only where there's gas stations close together...I personally am glad to know of another alternative for some more range if you choose to boondock and go off the beaten path as I feel this sport is really best for. I rarely ride without carrying extra fuel, and I wasn't quite sure how I was going to handle this issue with the new Attak I just ordered....you may have just found my solution. Thanks!

I don't understand the knee-jerk negative comments either. We've been riding since the mid 60's with a 10 gallons of go-go juice jammed between our knees and gonads. From there we have electrical lines intertwined with fuel lines all over the place under the hood. But now all of a sudden one guy adds an extra gallon somewhere else and he's created a time-bomb? Reality check, guys... If it's in a leak-tight container and well secured, I don't see a pending explosion.

I have to admit I'd be much more inclined to try to find a true gas can for this purpose rather than your described "oil jug," however. Most oil jugs aren't real stout nor have real tight fitting lids like a true "approved" red plastic gas can. Just a thought.....

the real problem is when your out of fuel there still about 1 gallon left in the tank something wrong with the fuel pump housing??? my body has a rtx and he came out of fuel after only 107 miles so i tow it with my rx-1 for another 20 miles and we've been able to put only 35 liters(9.2 us gal) in the tank so go figure???

This issue was discussed in earlier posts somewhere. I do not believe you can get the full 10 gallons in these tanks due to some sort of expansion air chamber that some people are cutting open to allow a true 10 gallon capacity... I haven't seen it myself to comment further, maybe someone else here can explain better.

just seems odd for someone that wants to pound powder to want to add almost 15lbs the the farthest point posible on the sled. isn't 2 gal = to 14lbs?

Normally Hornepayne to Hearst should be easy to do, that trail is a major highway. We ran that last month and even an older Polaris 700 made it. When were you breaking trail up there ?

has anyone removed the white plastic "tube" at mouth of tank?..if so,has it allowed more fuel to be put into tank?....

thanks
dan

Been there done that 74 free air ski doo on it's top , hole in the gas container 1 crisp sled. It was insured and I didn't get hurt but ! :bling
