I just used Mother's Polish on the running boards and it worked great but spending all that time there made me notice how many unused rivet and skid mounting holes I have after swapping skids. What options are there to fill them in with something that looks half decent other than just using rivets?

rivots

the extra holes you have to the front are not in mine so did you drill for some other skid?

Yes, replaced Proaction with Monoshock so I have one big hole and a bunch of small ones that are no longer needed. I thought rivets would probably be the way to go for the small holes but just wondered if anyone has done anythig different?

bolt

maybe you could put small chrome bolt in larger holes, also the more you polish the better it looks, hard work but it looks nice also you have to keep after it.

For the larger holes, just grind the square section down and thread it, put a nut on it inside of the tunnel =)

I've got no idea what these are called in english though.

One of those chromed antenna hole covers could work as well, if the rubber gasket is removed :P

I had a piece of stainless steel cut to match the profile of my tunnel when I changed to the Expert X. I had a huge hole from the mono skid dial in the tunnel.

I just filled holes with stainless rivots. Get a short stainless carriage bolt and nut for bolt holes. I used tunnel supports to cover up the shock adjuster hole but I have seen people use a big yamaha symbol there, similar to the ones on the tank cover,,,, looks good to me....

I ended up using rivets in the small holes and I found these 7/16" chrome buttons at Home Depot. The trick is that they don't retain very well on their own so you have to bend the tabs over from behind and that's hard to do if the hole is behind the skid mounting plate (but not impossible) so it's easier to do while you have everything apart. Only time will tell if they are going to rust though.

A little hint with the mothers is when you go to buff it off use some flour on a clean cloth and it will bring out a mirror finish with out to much elbow grease. But according to your pictures it looks like you have it all figured out how to get a mirror finish.

Also, Mothers Billet Polish will bring out a better finish than Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish. In my opinion, Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish as well as the Busch Super Shine stuff is a bit too aggressive as they dull the perfect mirror finish by leaving microscopic but still visible scratch marks.
