I have an apex with stock drivers and want to put extroverts on it. I am guessing 9 tooth would be stock size but what happens when you switch to 8 tooth or 7 tooth? Do I have to change gearing or do something else?

reducing the driver size will change final gearing.http://www.turboaddictionparts.com/cata ... lator.html

I would stay with a 9 tooth unless u are going to a much larger track lug, then there is no need to go to an 8 or 7. If you do then yes you will need to do some clutching for sure and some gear changes, depending on what mph you wish to achieve. I am planning on installing ten tooth extros but haven't got much help yet in my post. I could get it all figured, but choose not to use trial and error. Also depending on your skid you may need to trim your rails and likely install an anti-stab kit as well. There is no advantage to extros on the mono skid really if you stay stock size as that set up doesn't ratchet like the ck skid in the 07 and up RTX. So why r u doing it? Is it method or madness, or both.

scott use the gearing calculator i posted and punch in your numbers. i have been running 10 tooth since 04 in my rx with 22-42 gears and 144 track.

So what yer sayin' is if I change my gearing to get as close as possible to the same final ratio then no cluching should be required. DO I need to remove the tunnel protectors and would you know how much I need to trim off my rails. Thanks grader
My other post is in the apex general section, if you can reply there as I wish not to hijack this thread. Thanks, Scottdylanjen9

I do plan on putting either a 1.75 or 1.5 lug track and my track racthets right now so was thinking of doing extroverts

Isnt the general rule - 1 tooth on the driver equals 2 in the chain case?

go 8 tooth. with that much luf it would be a tight fit with 9 tooh without extensive mods.

Still should be 2.52 pitch unless the track you have picked is different.
I just put 9 tooth extros in my 07 attak. I had to in my opinion. With studs I had to have the track so damn tight to keep it from slipping. Its a tight fit. But no studs u can go bigger if u remove protectors. If it were me I'd go smaller drive and keep protectors. Thats just me tho.
