I am going with the super heavy 1704-710/711, I have found that the 560/561 is 280 plus for weight and stock 240 plus. Plus makes no sence at all but I am 285 not including gear I hope it doesn't ride like a wood truck. The next step to have the shocks revalved for my weight.

Bought my LTX at Troy City and they thought that the 1704-560/561 would be plenty given their experience with arctic cats. Definitely seems stiff even on the softest cam setting but I have not hit any bumps yet. Will see after sled breaks in.

I have a viper rtx and I tip the scales at 245 without my gear on, I put the limiter straps in hole 2, loosened the front track shock till it just touched the spring, then put a 1/2" pre load on it, then set the rear transfer blocks for as much transfer as possible and finally put the rear spring pre load on the #2 or middle position, running 80 lbs air in the floats, 9" deuce bars and 135 1.375 stud boy studs with all woodys aluminum double angle backers, the sled handles amazing and I haven't bottomed it out yet.....
Similar to you.

I am staying at 250-270 #s so I don't have to change my sled set up. Why screw up a good thing?

What did you end up doing?
Apex1958, what springs did you end up installing? Also, did anyone consider changing the primary coilover spring on the rear portion?

1704-710/711 it is the heaviest spring made for that suspension I still have to rebuild the rear shock it needs allot more rebound damping. I have to see if i need to do something with the coil over it has not given me any issues.
So did you actually "need" the heavy springs and did you try with the stock springs?
I can see where the springs could overcome the rebound, but with all the complaints about the rear being so stiff/sag free I'd have thought that maybe it was right for you as is?

I'm 250 dressed and I have around 3-4 inches of sag when I sit on it. Everything is stock except I had the rear shock revalved. So it seems softer sitting on it, but once I get out and ride it the bumps seam to transfer through the suspension and bucks me off the seat. So on a bumpy trail I have to stand or I will get my #*$&@ kicked. My Nytro didn't have that problem. I could sit down and go through the littler bumps and not get bucked off. We should be able to stay seated through those kinds of bumps don't you guys think?
Tim,
Curious how far up you have the rear spring preload set? Sounds like you have good sit in sag and maybe need more shock work?

I am 290 undressed I bottomed the sled very easily and the sag cold was 3 to 4 inches on my LTX. The SE model has more compression damping than the standard model. This thing road like a wood truck over the sutter bumps because the first part of the shock was used up because of too much sag which got worse as the shock heated up. Damping will not stop a sled from bottoming it may help but no cigar. Now my sag is 1 to 2 inches and the ride is unbelievable but the rebound damping has to be increased because the sled will through me off on the big stuff. I ride groomed twisty trails and lakes and this is the best sled as far as the ride goes out of the 15 pervious sleds I have owned.
i knew scott would figure it out.

I have the front skid shock pretty high. And I know that's one of the reasons it's rough, but I didn't want to bottom. I probably need to have that shock revalved as well. It's great in the trails on a pretty smooth trail, handles awesome!! But once the bigger bump come I have to stand. Which is fine for a while then I get a little tired!
