Hi all, picked up an 08 RTX at the end of last year. I started it periodically over the summer/fall and changed the oil without any issues. I went to start it up yesterday and got code 84 and 11. While changing the oil, I noticed the previous owner had cut and spliced about a dozen wires and taped them back up, why???. I ended up taping them all together in an effort to prevent them from coming lose. I went through the wires thinking one may have come loose, but they all appeared to have a good connection. Any idea what would be causing these codes. I find it odd that I am getting two fault codes at once. Any suggestions on where to look would be much appreciated. (I am aware what the codes cover). Thanks.

Could be either a home made or hacked Yamaha ground issue fix.

Moose, if it were a short, would this also prevent the sled from starting? Since the codes appeared it won't turn over. Also, in addition to codes 84 and 11 in also getting a 15 now...

For multiple sensors to go like this, it would usually point to a wiring or ground issue.

Problem solved! After checking all the connections I found that connection to the starter solenoid was heavily corroded. Cleaned her up and code 11 was resolved. Bring on the snow!
