That's understandable but you don't raise the price a $1000 over last year's Apex/Attak with no improvements, maybe $200 to $300 but not a grand. That's absurd. Also with the Vector upgrade to rider forward why wouldn't they put the new 3 cylinder 130 in. The door was open for Yammie to make some big strides with the 08 models and it's like they hesitated and took a baby step. Not at all impressed!!!
 
don't get me wrong i like my GT but i do not love it. 150 hp in one of the heaviest sleds lon snow just does not cut it. Why they did not pump up the motor for the 40th is beyond me. A 130 hp nytro is not the answer either. You know what "F" it. i hate typing , yamaha simply fucked up for 08.
 
Makes my decision easier for this year. I will keep my 06. Fine by me. The fact that they want $12,500 for an Ohlin Attak is nuts. The Ohlin is the thing I hate most on my GT. I wouldn't pay a dime to have em again. Nytro looks good but they sure skipped any improvements for the Apex. Great sled but they could have done something other than graphics.
The price on all of these sleds has me a bit suprised. $10,000 for a 3 cyl 130 hp sled?? Ouch. And to think that the hand warmers are going to be marginal and it will eat wheels like they are going out of style.

Your complaining about the price and yet you would want the new motor in the vector?? Makes sense. Also, they added Ohlins to the front of the GTs instead of the GYT-R shocks which caused the price to go up. Also over the past year prices of a lot of materials went up as well. Also, Yamaha been working in a 3 year cycle for a while now and they aren't gonna change what was a brand new sled after just 2 years. They gotta save some stuff for 09. Also if they went with a 136 option on the Nytro that too would increase the prices.
 
I think the FX Nytro RTX is one sweet sled. All the reviewers rave about the sled and if it is truly like described I may have to sell the 06 ER for a 09 model. I would never purchase a first year model again. Always too many bugs in a first model year sled. My only other concern would be that it may be a cold ride. :4STroke: :Rockon:

To me, it looks as if the Nytro has a lot of the Phazer in it. I don't know if I would hesitate about a first year sled. You could always hold out for the next year and never wind up buying anything. Thats what keeps us coming back! I have considered leaving my '06 GT the way I have it, let my wife ride it, and getting a Nytro for myself. I just hope that it has a more agressive suspension to hang with the DOO's inthe rough. I know it's all about the setup and the rider, but as much as I hate to say it, Doo has a better rough suspension IMO. I do like jumping ditches and stuff, and I hope Yammi gives up something that can do that better.

Nobody raises the cost of a sled $1000 in one year without substantial upgrades which is not the case with the Apex/Attak. For a grand less I'll put up with the Yammie shocks upfront as opposed to Ohlins. By the way your defense of Yammie's absurd price increase is a little weak!
 
I believe the main reason for US cost increases is cause the canadian vs USA costs were too much difference..and canuks were getting shafted...they obviously werent going to LOWER canuk costs much if any..so they raised usa costs....this is my theory.

they also gave canuks the APEX(old ER) and also 2 GTs..so now they have a low cost entry APEX where USA has only RTX and GT.

getting the costs closer i think was the goal btween countrys.

Don't know how true it is but I was told by a dealer today that the FX Nytro will dyno up around 140HP. If this is the case that sled should scream and there will be one in my future.
 
I don't see how you can do much better than the Attak or Apex without a total redesign, and as others have said its only the third year now in 08. Sure I'd love more HP, but I'm sure thats coming in the next redesign.

In the meantime...... Where do I put a deposit on that FX RTX ?????
 
You have to know that if the new Nytro has just won the Pro Open, it will get a ton of attention. Hell, it got mine! I may hold off on my supercharger and buy a Nytro. I think it will be a great sled for those of us who like the jumping and aggressive trial riding. I don't care if my sled goes 125mph, I would rather ba able to beat the daylights out of it in the rough stuff, and soar through the air! I know anything new gets both Boo's and Horay's, but I think Yamaha may be onto something great with this one too.

i think its going to be a winner, yamaha heards us saying if the the phazer us a 120 h.p. everyone would want it, now the nytro is 130 and looks awesome, i'm sure there be some goodies out there to get it close to 140 h.p. soon
 
Not to turn this into a FX Nytro thread or anything but....

My Attak is rated at 575 lbs, so let's say my riding weight is 775 lbs total including me. I am guessing this FX might come in at about 475 lbs, or 675 lbs riding weight. If I do the math, hp/lb on my Attak is 5.16, and on the FX it would be 5.19, or basically even. Man, if I could get a bump sled that pulls like my Attak, LOOK DA HELL OUT!

I'll keep my Attak for probably boosted speed, but again, can't really call 08 a let down year with that FX machine coming.
