I bought the viper BTX because I like back country travel in the north and after a couple years of use I found out what I desperately needed on the sled to make it more user friendly. Last year I built and installed tunnel stiffeners so I could mount a cargo rack without worrying about bending the tunnel like I’ve seen so many times on the vipers. They turned out great and I couldn’t be happier. I have always wanted to have an axe on my sled but couldn’t find mounts that I was happy with. I wanted to keep things as streamlined as possible to keep thing looking good so I just finished building my own mounts and once again couldn’t be happier. I was completely disappointed as to how much snow entered the engine compartment when in the deep powder. I couldn’t find per-made frog skins so I ordered a sheet of it and figured out my own. I think it should work good. I still have to figure out what I’m going to do with the vent on the side panel on the muffler side, it doesn’t have a metal mesh screen to wrap the frog skin around like the clutch side does. I also used some black rtv silicone to plug the holes by the front a arm mounts. Now I just have to fix the dam oil tank leak. Another big disappointment.

Sorry for the screwed up pictures. Apparently my phone doesn’t like posting pictures on here. Not sure what happened.

Nicely done, especially like the tunnel axe rack

Thanks. I am really happy with the way it turned out. It's hardly noticable and fit perfect with the rack.

I was on a 6 day 2000 mile trip from Orr, MN to northern ONtario, (and BACK) a little Manitoba and one of the guys brought a small axe wired to the tunnel/running board and we gave him crap-at the begining. THEN I believe 4 times it was NEEDED so by the end of the trip we were all very glad Gary brought his axe for us. SO if you never use it great, if you ever need it.....its there.
Awesome job! Where are you putting your shovel?
Sealing it off and the Frogskinz is really a great idea especially if going off trail at all.

Agreed. I like exploring off trail and a lot of the times by myself. I've needed it before and didn't have one so I probably won't need it now that I have one.I was on a 6 day 2000 mile trip from Orr, MN to northern ONtario, (and BACK) a little Manitoba and one of the guys brought a small axe wired to the tunnel/running board and we gave him crap-at the begining. Yes it needed the frogskin, because a good part of my riding is off trail. It was super easy to do. I used the 5/8" wide double back tape that I had left over from one of my old plastic window insulating kits. I cleaned the area with rubbing alcahol where the tape was going, intalled the tape on the hood and put a slightly bigger peice of frog skin on. Then I took a sharp utilty knife and cut the frogskin along the edge of the tape. I was very surprised at how good the the tape stuck hood and the frogskin.Sealing it off and the Frogskinz is really a great idea especially if going off trail at all.

Travis at barn of parts has a gasket for the oil tank that will fix the leak. He’s a vendor on this site.
