Well, I went out today for a good old sleddin ride, (conditions were marginal with two inches of fresh sticky sno) and I was not as impressed as I thought previously. Top end RPMS were pretty good between 8800 and 9000. Speed 90MPH on dream meter. The thing that puzzled me the most was the throttle response was not as it was before the mod, not the same zip. Clutching?
So I dug a little deeper, changed a couple of things with same result. Weather? I may just suck at it, but with 14 +years experience working on these things I thought I knew what I was doing.
She just did not feel as strong in any way as previous year.
I did add the backcountry 1.75, and extros so I know the top speed will not be the same, but the grunt should be tremendous with apr.13HP more.
Off the line I never saw anything under 8600 RPM when she hooked up.
Currently I have D n F s installed and they work great, I have my own setup and nothing could come close to me last year in 1000ft. This year I am not so sure.
Damn back to the drawing board: take tickle trunk out to the play area.
: take the clutch cover off.
: add or subtract weight.
: test run
: AH S$#T, THATS NOT IT, BUT BETTER
: step three again.
: followed by four.
: need a different part, back to town
: BEER
: and on and on until satisfied.
(BEER THAT IS)LOL.
Sometimes I think sledders are just crazy in the head to do what we do until we are satisfied, then I ask myself why again and one simple thing comes to mind.

I suspect this is the culprit of your "flat" feeling...
I did add the backcountry 1.75, and extros so I know the top speed will not be the same

I am doubting its anything with your track. The backcountry track is by far the best investment in snowmobile mods I have ever made. I am geared down to 20t top sprocket and still hit a 100 on the speedo tonight in pretty decent conditions. This is slower than last year with a cobra but acceleration from 0-80 is in another league, totally nutz!! Should of done it as soon as I got the sled.

I have full exhaust With DnF kit with red primary spring and Hauck helix and secondary spring. I am running 5 washers on the heel or outside of the weights and just screw on the tip of the weight. Worked pretty good. Im going to try to add one more washer to the heel as i was only turning about 8690 RPM. But overall it worked good.

you need to take some weight out optimally you want to be 9000-9200 with the full system and pc3 , filters etc.

Kell.....you mentioned you had awesome throttle response when it was -40??? Maybe you need to take way some fuel? Ask the guys with tons of experience with the RBIII
Turbo's not in yet but hopefully soon. Jesse tells our kits will ship first. Can hardly wait. One guy posted on Snowest on first ride and said it was unbelievable...I think were still on for the February trip again. When is that deal in Whitecourt this year?

The throttle response was not as good. I am sure it is the clutching, with the bigger track and more windage in the tunnel you figure you would not halfto go lighter on the bottom and mid weights with the extra power added? I halfto work nights for a couple, then the brother in law will be here so I dont know when I will be able to test.
I will check on the date for WhiteCourt, should be good again. Maybe check out the races this time! Ill keep you posted.

Almost forgot, the onboard injection computer should still compensate for altitude and temp. The mapping only changes the base current mapping. So temp and altitude changes should not matter.

extrovert Drivers show a hp loss at the track. I've seen the same sled dynoed without extroverts then with and extroverts show less power.

yep dirk that and that 1.75 track is definately at least part of the loss since last year..

Interesting with the extroverts as you do not halfto run the track as tight and making less resistance (bottom and mid range). The track I can see though.
With having at least 13 more horse at the motor, should not be as noticeable you would think.

a loose track is slower on this machine....tighter track equals faster sled...
