FIRST RIDE 16 APEX LE

1958 - All the HCC riders are glad you are back on a true Yamaha but please don't get stuck as we don't want to pull that tank out of the deep snow! As for the air shocks - One of my front shocks was down to 50lbs Saturday. Those things have to go!

Update got 240 miles on now getting 13 to 15 MPG, the suspension loosened up a little but still set to hard. The sled is so smooth running and pull like a freight train. I love the acceleration its fun to crack the throttle go over rolling hills and lift the ski's going over the other side. I have been in different snow conditions and the sled steers great it gives off a lot of confidence it the corners. The difference in handling between the 06, 08 and the 16 is amazing and the power steering is the greatest invention since the napkin.

450 miles now, riding in NY sucks I should have 3 times that by now. When I first got the sled I noticed the track was every tight but figured it would stretch NOT. This is the first sled I had that the track didn't stretch. The hi-fax are shot so all I wanted was another 60 to 80 miles for them to last. So I loosened the track in hopes of saving the hi fax for a last ride. I like to run the track loose anyway I was to the line in the bend on the hi-fax. THAT DID THE TRICK as far as the ride goes it helped a lot the sled no longer rides like a wood truck. Its not perfect but its 50% better than it was. I have 285psi in the rear sock and I weigh 290 in street cloths. Now into the dealer for a oil change and have DuPont hi-fax put on. I have also noticed that the sled is not revving to 10,500 RPM I have to take care of that also. I like the sled to rev to 10,700 and settle out to 10,500 RPM when all said and done. I don't why loosing the track made in ride better but that is all I did and was amazed in the difference again not prefect but a big difference and it worth a try for others!!! :jump:

Thanks for the update. Do you have the 1.75” lug height BackCountry track or a 1.25” RipSaw II track? My Hi-fax stunk bad like burnt plastic when I first got the sled. From what I read they all do. After awhile they are then fine. I think the stock are good for 3,000+ miles no problem. I'm going off memory however.

1.25" ripsaw, I have an LE 129" track. The Stock Hi-Fax could last 3,000 miles if you are always in deep snow or 80 miles all depends on condition. My Viper went through 2 sets in 1500 miles before I put DuPont's on.
