First ride of the season...

Plenty of snow here in the U.P.
Hobbled out into the shop today and put the rear shocks in my sled that I sent out last November. We have plenty of snow to ride everywhere this winter and I am sidelined from an injury.
Maybe I can get out for a ride towards the end of March. April I will have to trailer out to the National forest to ride.
Never fired up any of my sleds all winter and its been rough. Buddies are riding and telling me how much they are enjoying it.
Stay young and dont get injured....

:die

The snow base made it thru this last warm spell then it started to snow.
We got a ton of wet heavy snow and now it has turned cold and still snowing.
The UP has the best conditions I have seen for quite some time.
Now is the time to come up and ride!
Still waiting on that first ride of the season...
With lots of luck i can get out for a ride in March and April!

Son and I just came up today; are staying in Curtis. Will be up here till next Sunday and am definitely looking forward to the week day riding up here. I'll agree too that the U.P. in general, but more specifically the eastern U.P. conditions have been very good this year where it has made the 500mi trek all the worth while; as if we needed a reason, right.

Tim, how are the trails towards Marquette and Big Bay?

FYI - just spent 5 days in far NW Wisconsin along Lake Superior from Port Wing to Herbster to Cornucopia. Hit it just right. Big snowstorm in the area Tuesday thru Thursday with 10"+. Already had 4' in the woods and a great base on trails. Great area. They're doing really well grooming too. Not much traffic at all. Stayed in Washburn. With coming temps, it should be good for weeks yet.
Also, same storm hit MN north shore and closed the main highway (#2) for almost 2 days. Several locations got 30-40" of snow!!

It's been a few years since I rode those trails and had a beer and burger at the Pub and Grub. My friend Jeff has a cabin up there (SledHead 24/7 guy) and another buddy has a beautiful A Frame cabin off of Hwy #2 past Iron River,Wi. I have stayed there and one of the fire roads starts right by his cabin and leads to those trails. That is the one area of Wisconsin that gets the benefits year in and year out from the LES machine.

Ever stop at Plywood Palace? Yikes!

Seems like the decent snowfall is pretty widespread this year so no one place is crowded and the trails are holding up nicely with the bigtime effort of the clubs grooming consistently. Reminds me of how it used to be.

This place?
Yup. Must be burning tires for heat cuz our sleds accumulated black soot on them for the (very) brief time we were there. I kept my helmet on in case the ceiling or roof caved in. It's unique for sure and not for me. There were about 15 sleds there when we stopped. Can't believe the health department doesn't shut him down.

Went to Quebec last week and am there now.
Trails and scenery do not disappoint.
