Picked up the XTX last week. Got a pretty good end of season deal.
We rode Saturday in the eastern UP. Brimley, Raco area. Still good snow in the woods and they had a few inches of fresh snow Friday.
Rode 91 miles. The XTX is sweeet. Way different than my '07 Attak. The Attak seems so much lower and big now compared to the XTX. I brought both sleds. My nephew rode the Attak. Had a good chance to compare both sleds back to back. Took some getting used to the XTX. The egonomics and seating position is nice. Easy transistions from sitting to standing. Good room to move around on. Definitely like the taller handle bars and taller seat.
Definately needs a taller windshield. The air blows right in the middle of my chest. At 70mph and above the wind is really pushing on you hard. The suspension is way stiffer than the Attak. Not a big deal. I'll soften the springs up and readjust the shocks. Plus I am sure it will loosten up some as more miles are put on it. The sled takes the big bumps great. Found some big moguls in the power lines, not even a hint of bottoming.
I put my USI X2's on before I even rode it. Not sure I should of done that. I should of rode it with stock ski's first. The USI skis made for some heavy steering. The sled did rail in the corners. Not a hint of pushing. Just heavy steering when going slow and trying to run the cornres hard. They made it difficult to respond and adjust quickley. At higher speeds the sled felt planted. Crusing at 60, 70, 80 mph felt great. At lower speeds below 40 mph the sled seemed to dart and hunt slightly. I am sure the ski's had allot to do with that.
At the end of the day I raced the Attak. Now the Attak did have a belt on that has 1800 miles on it. And it was the older #00 part number belt. Which is slighty narrower than the #01 belt when new. So I am not sure the Attak was running at its peak. But the Nytro beat the Attak every time. Got it out of the hole by two plus sleds and the Attak couldn't catch the Nytro. The snow had a good solid base with a couple of inches of wet snow on top.
The Nytro is a sweet sled. A couple of things for me. I taller windshield. Soften the suspension. Re-install the stock skis, maybe play with the carbides some. Should be good to go. Can't wait til next season.
The gas mileage looks good. I had two bars of fuel showing at 91 miles. Not sure how much gas I used. But at least I can a 100+ miles on a tank. Should get better as the engine breaks in more.
