My season is going from bad to worse. In an attempt to remove the tunnel protectors because they're rubbing on my 1.5" non-studded track, while drilling out a rivet from the bottom, the drill caught and went into the gas tank. Can the tank be fixed by using a soldering gun and melting some more plastic onto it? I have an old tank from a Phazer I can cut a piece off from the mounting area. Are these tanks double walled? How would that affect it if gas gets into that cavity? (apart from having extra gas)
I should just throw a match into it. This thing's been nothing but trouble since I got it

So got it done. Garage and driveway still smell like gas though. First time taking the seat and tank off this sled to took me a while to figure it out. Cut a piece from this tanks mounting area as filler. Put some gas in it and she stayed dry. Put some heat tape over the repair to protect it as well as over the holes from the rivets.
Oh, and I removed the rivets from hell that were holding the tunnel protectors from the top. What a PITA they were.
