I may try your ski adjustment. Just keep posting your results on carbide wear, I'm wondering if it will add any more stress tothe ski/carbide after setting them outboard of the spindle center.
I'm going to post what I notice, for sure!! I may also turn the rubber ski thingy around so it applies more pressure on the back of the ski instead of the front!!! ( Thanks, Ditchbanger for the idea)

Unchained,
What did you do the rubber boot switch or the bushing or both?

We just got in from testing my neighbour's RTX with the rubber mounts turned around inside the saddles, and the results were amazing ! Immediately after we switched them around, with the sled on the stand suspending the front end, you could easily see the difference in approach angle the ski has relative to the ground. The skis are now pointed up rather than down, I'd say the difference is probably 4 inches or more in the upward position at the front of the ski. There was better cornering and feel in the turns from this adjustment, and darting was non-existent, so basically, anyone who hasn't tried this yet should get on it right away !

well nytromaniac I had my doubts about wideing the ski stance, but man was i wrong. So far the set up i have is front strap up 2 holes, rear strap up 1,turn ski stoppers around backwards & move the spacers for the wider stance. What a difference
.I'm still not sure what it will act like once the trails get groomed & harder but from what i can tell its gonna rock

Parkindale...why did you shorten the rear strap? Also, do you think turning the stoppers around backward will cause a lot of wear on the tail of the skis?

I thought about that as well till I took mine off to turn around the rubber.
As it was, I consider the wear on the front of my ski's excessive for the milage I have on it. With the stock set up, the wear rod is not far enough forward I don't think. I'm thinking turning this around will help balance it out.

All I did was put both bushings on the outside of the spindle and left the rubber cusion as is. I already had a 3/8 brass shim (Bergrstom copy) under rthe back of the rubber to reduce darting but so far Im liking it....Mr. Pump Gas said:Unchained,

Never mind the filth from the ski mod grinding but here's a pic from last week before I left......
I will check out the rubber boot switcheroo this week and see how that compares to th 3/8 brass shim under the back of the boot right now....

Turning the block around & placing it in backwards tips the front of the ski slightly upward & completly eliminated the terrible darting issue.RedRX1 said:Parkindale...why did you shorten the rear strap? I wonder what the engineers think when they read what we're being forced to do here to get decent handling. I mean this is crazy!! flipping rubber bumpers around to eliminate darting, offsetting the skis to help reduce inside ski lift. Come on Yammy, get your &^%$ together so we don't have to Macgyver everything.
There I feel better now, sorry Tom, it's been a rough week.

manufacturers have been doing the spacer thing on the ski's for adjustment for years. It works.
The rubber bumper thingy is interesting.

Shouldn't this apply to the Phazer as well. I need to get that as easy to handle as I can to keep the wife happy. A happy wife is a happy home!!!

Yes, this does apply to the Phazer too. I widened the stance on our Phazer FX early last year and it worked very well. I remember reading it on Yamaha's website last year on the Phazer page, and my dealer explained all about it before delivery, so I thought everyone knew about the adjustable stance on these sleds. I haven't tried reversing the saddle bumpers on the Phazer yet, but that's next
