Just put on a new set of Fox Float Air shocks…..(RX-1 Turbo)…..
The manual says to start at 50 psi and go up by 5 lbs at a time till the desired ride is achieved...To a max of 150 psi……Now 50 psi is supposed to be for a 185 lb rider….This seems like a lot of messing around..
Can anyone with experience with this shock start me off with a closer pressure….my weight without gear is 240 lbs and I ride fairly hard…..Thanks…JD

I am 220lbs. 2003 RX-1, M-10 with Fox Floats. I am running right near 76psi. I ride very hard. Ski lift was minimized and the ride was great. I am very happy about putting these shocks on.

Body weight really doesn't matter as much for setting pressure on the front shocks as it does for setting preload on the rear shock. IMO I would not start at 90 PSI, that is pretty high. Again IMO I would start at 70 PSI and go from there.

The few guys I asked gave me answers that ranged from 58-75 lbs.

Are you checking the pressure with the skis on or off the ground? If the skis are on the ground, your reading will be about 15 psi higher than the actual pressure. Fox recommends taking all pressure readings with the front end off the ground. Just a tip to save you some headaches. By the way, I run my Floats at 75-80 psi (front end up), and that gives me a fairly firm ride, with excellent bump absorption. I go about 175 lbs, no gear. Have fun!
