Fox floats Durability ?

The last fox shocks I had were on a mid 90's Polaris.

These shocks needed a rebuild every few weeks. [1,000 miles or so]

Since then I have had Yamaha's with Kayaba's, Ohlin's, GYTR's none of which except the 2006 Ohlins mono hardly ever needed a rebuild.

Are fox floats a needy high maitenance shock like the old ones or pretty much a long time between rebuilds shock.

X2 On Fox not a big Fox fan. Fell in luv with Kayaba's, Ohlin's, GYTR's very robust shocks. Doos shocks suck rebuild every 3500 miles but have 5000+ on Yam Apex Attak Ohlin's & GYTR's still going strong. I would not be disappointed to have Fox air shocks dropped by Yam for better shock. Also not a big fan of air shocks on prior Yams always was harsh ride compared to Ohlin's, GYTR's.

What do you do carry around a hand pump & where does it store on board?

You guys just need to try Fox Floats set up/ spec'd for your Yammi sled. Best shock hands down IMO; I also think you'd love them if you'd try them. Smoothes out big bumps like no other. "Floats" excellently also for the off trail people.

I am sold on them. I've heard the new TEAM air shocks are also excellent.

From all feedback I've heard, they do not lose air at all. I think you do want to have those plastic covers for them to protect them, but other wise you can inflate or deflate them to adjust for conditions easily right on the trail.

I was told by Bruce at Pioneer Performance the Floats are charged with Nitrogen and will leak off over time.

A question? IF that were the case then why do they include an airpump with the sleds equipped with Floats so that you can vary the pressure as needed. Smells like something emitted by a male cow to me LaLaLa

I find that hard to believe as Nitrogen Molecules are bigger than ambient air. The Nature of nitrogen causes less air loss than air. Although air by nature is 78% nitrogen ;)

I do not use the Pump Supplied by Fox on the Race sled I use a nitrogen tank with a Regulator to set my pressure

Oh crap now I need a nitrogen tank & tank rental in my frozen garage. Don't worry honey just nitrogen for my Sled shocks. Yeah that won't happen.lol.

Where does hand air pump store on Apex SE? Also can you get valve caps off rear supension clickers all iced up in Attak & I only can get at them in thaw.

I do it becuase we are picky about race sled set-up. The pump is small and easy to store in a pants pocket. The caps come off for me evern at -15 after a day of racing. So I don't think it will be much of an issue

2,600 KM not so Much. #$%&*

I had mine rebuilt 1,000 miles ago at Pioneer and I noticed last weekend that they are leaking oil.

Sure its not assembly Grease. Most of them liberly put eh grease on the shaft and they will leak some of that grease for a while
