loving my new venture, the only thing is when i shift in reverse and give it gas,all the freeplay comes back and makes a loud ''clunck''same when i shift to forward,my vector never does that and it has the same freeplay,is there a fix for that or is it something i have to live with,i know that if you feather the throttle,it doesnt clunck as bad but its kind of a pain

I THINK that you will find that your reverse linkage is slightly out of adjustment. The adjustment is so fine that a half turn on the linkage makes a big difference. Had the same problem on my Vector after I changed out the case bearings. Check your measurements VERY carefully.....or have your dealer do it if you're under warranty.

Also check your chain tension....finger tight, then back off 1/4 turn.

not sure if there the same or not, my 09 venture Gt had it to , you get use to riding it soon and dont really notice after awhile

Even without using reverse, just throttling on/off & back on the gas, i find the Vector has a lot of backlash in the drive system. I've confirmed the chain tension is OK, so the backlash must be in the gears.

With our Rage's I noticed a change in the clunk when I changed belts. Some belts had a little bit more tension on the shaft of the primary which possibly took up the slack on it's own before I applied throttle to move.
