I worked at a Cat dealer in the 70s, yeah I'm getting old, but anyways cat had a hexagon shaft primary clutch on their kawasakis motors back then. They would wear out very quick and also rattle. Problem was they would turn into bombs after a couple of seasons. Cracking and flying apart was a concern back then.
We checked free play just like what you see in video, but with measurement equipment because if too much they were replaced before something bad happened!
