For those looking for a bolt in cross country track the 144" freeride is back in production again! I know there has been a few posts in the last few months asking about cutting down 15x144 cross country style tracks.

Who carries these? I am in market for new or new takeoff...

Tracks USA is selling all three versions of the Freeride

I have been thinking about using a Fire Cat 144 x 13.5 x 1.25 Predetor track for extending my RTX after talking Alan Ulmer. I ride trails some 80% of the time and I am concerned about hyfax wear with the 1.5 Freeride.

I here a lot of people say that, but I think as long as you make a conscious effort to get into unpacked snow along the side of the trail every so often, or as often as possible/permittable, your hyfax won't suffer premature ware. I think it's prolonged riding on packed snow that creates the issue ... especially if traveling at higher speeds. I try to run in some fresh (even if only a few inches deep) snow where ever the opportunity presents itself and I have not had any hyfax issues (knock on wood) and I run a 136 Freeride.

No concerns with trial riding, 1,400 miles on my Yami graphite slider and there is still some wear yet, about 70% trail, 10% SNIRT, and 20% off trail on this set. BUT my MTX skid does have a different Idler setup up front on the curve that short tracks don't have and I also added another set of full size idlers in the middle of the skid (in my signature). Before this season starts, IF it starts, I'm going to toss on a set of the new Dupont sliders and really shouldn't need to worry about them again.

Ok, that's great info and gives me another track option when I extend my RTX next year to 144". I did add Excel wheels and low-snow wheels at the bend this summer to my RTX skid which should help too.

Thanks, G.B.
