Well here is the deal. I've planned on upgrading to a Freeride 121 for awhile. I mostly trail ride, but love going off trail and doing a little boondocking when the opportunity arises. My stock track (121) is not very forgiving off trail. I get stuck fairly easily unless I am really laying on the throttle. If I lose forward momentum I am toast.......
My question is.... What are peoples experiences with The Freeride (121, 136 and 144) with regards to on trail vs off trail performance?
Does the Freeride 121 drastically improve off trail performance as well as on?
Is the Freeride 144 still a good on trail track?
What is the impact on MPG?
Not much as far as snow goes, so I might as well start planning the summer project (plus I want to get my track while they are available)
Thanks

144"...... But I'm bias. If tipped up extentions are not avalible then 136". Should be no difference in MPG as the flexing of the track is the majority of the power loss from the track, not the weight or length. I average 19mpg with my MTX, usually 20+ on easy family rides, and 16-17 balls to wall agressive trail playing keep up with my BIG HP buddies. It pulls 76-78mph gps on groomed medium packed trails (82-84 on the speedo). Seen 85 on a radar gun on ice, speedo said 92mph.

Yes there is a drastic difference in traction going from the stock track to an 1.5" lug. Track length all depends where you ride and ultimately personal preference.

I'm leaning toward 136 for my Daughters 2 Phazers....
Still studying on the subject!

I'm just glad that all 3 Freeride tracks are available again. Now I just have to figure out what I'm going to do.

After running the 121 1.5" Fride for 4 years I personally would switch up to 136 length cuz 70% of the time I head off trail when I can. Also would get the 1.25 lug height if still available to lessen the high slider wear that comes with the 1.5" height.

I wish they would have added a 128" and 151" also. 128" would have been perfect for the shorty phazers, just move the skid back 3" which would have given a better attack angle, increased wheelbase for stability, and no tunnel mods required. A 151" would have allowed the same for the MTX chassis. If I was doing a 136" I'd personally go with 4" extensions + 3" setback or a combo close to that.

Order one and cut the outer lugs down, the inner "cone" lugs are already around 1.25". With a simple homemade jig, OR 1.25" diameter pipe and a knifed edge sawzall blade its easy to trim a track down. Really no need too, I've got 2000+ miles on my slides so far with the 144" Free ride and some of that was pretty iffy snow conditions. My slides wore to just about the "wear line" in 200 miles and haven't wore at all since.

Anyone debating putting the 121" on just for some extra bite, don't even think about it, DO IT!
For those of us that either don't want to deal with extensions, or don't have a covered trailer that fits a 144", the 121" is still a great improvement over the stocker tracks.
I just busted the filled ditches north of my place. Powder wheelies the whole way, Chris Burandt style with one ski in the air! That freeride is a blast in bottomless ditches! It's as close to powder riding as we get in the flatlands!
(too bad my helmet cam got snow on the lens with the first face shot, as the only video I have of it you can only see snow and me squealing like a little girl in the background as I carve around signs and telephone poles)
